9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very far away from any point of interest in the city but lovely and very calm atmosphere. Really recommend that accommodation
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place with a cool and young team! You need a car to get there, because it's in the middle of nowhere but then you have a garden eden. Nice details and cool cabañas with air conditioning and comfortable beds. The young team is very helpful and the restaurant is delicious! You can swim, take the cayaks and do stand-up paddling for free. Even the pool is nice. Very cool details! When you arrive there is one person with a carrying wagon for the luggage. We could even stay some hours more than the usual checkout. Highly recommend and thanks again to the team!
Cons: Our friends had some ants in their cabaña, unfortunately even after some insecticide they where there. But our cabaña was fine! Even no mosquitoes. Only the shower was soso, salty water (I assume from the laguna) and the toilet wasn't very strong ;-)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Amazing experience, kayaking in Laguna Guerrero... The food prepared by the young chef was tasteful and delicious. We feared for mosquitoes and insects but that was not an issue at all. We enjoyed the solitude and tranquility of the place.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: People aren’t nice
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a fantástic place to relax . The little restaurant serves really delicious food. We definitely want to come back
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel consists of fabulously located blockhouses in the jungle at Laguna Guerrero, with a very decent restaurant. Kayaking on the lake and watching sunset are some of the best attractions.
Cons: The people at the restaurant sometimes are in over their heads. They play those false Jazzy-style renderings of old rock hits which you would only expect in a cheap shopping mall and repeat them over and over and over .... As if the thousands of good old Caribbean-style songs or the original good old rock hits wouldn't make for good background music.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Little green paradise. The whole property is very well maintained and the cabins are really comfortable. The Laguna is a natural reserve, with no dangerous animals whatsoever. AC works very well. The service is outstanding, the team is really making sure you are having a great stay. Also the food is delicious and there are many options on the menu.
Cons: Some may be rebuked by the slightly salty water in the shower, not an issue for us
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Can borrow kayaks and bicycles for free, good massage, food is one of the best we tried and good price, staff is very friendly and helpful, very nice views over the lagoon, comfortable seats and benches all around the premises, a house covered in mosquito nets so you can sit quietly, little pool, very clean, nice view from the cabin. Location is very dark, nice for viewing the stars. Focus on environmentally friendly solutions, for instance the water and lighting.
Cons: We stayed 3 days, one afternoon there were a few people with loud music, the hotel could have asked them to lower the music because it is a place for relaxing. A tip: Could put a sign to indicate where the reception is (which is the restaurant). That is a bit tricky to find when just arriving.
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: We were really looking forward to staying here, but from the moment we arrived it didn't feel like a very welcoming place. There was just something off about it, maybe because there was no manager to oversee things and the two employees didn't seem that interested in having guests. No one else was staying at the hotel, and we were in fact left alone at night on the premises in what seemed like the middle of nowhere. We had come to see manatees but were told that there was only a 20% chance of seeing one, and that was only if we booked a 4 hour boat tour. I don't like to leave a negative review, but El Chital seemed kind of neglected and didn't live up to the photos we saw on the web.

7.1 Good
Pros: Price
Cons: Very basic
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff especially Carlos. Always willing to help.
Cons: The early morning noise. Not sure if it was maintenance crew doing repairs early in the morning.
6.3 Good
Pros: Acceptable facilities
Cons: No sound isolation. We felt like sleeping on the main road. Dogs barking all the night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the location was great and we felt save with the parking. Everything was nice.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the location of Casa Blanca. It is on the main street coming into Chetumal. less then a half mile from Vips restaurant. Over all I like Chetumal as a peaceful city. I like the upper floor.
Cons: The coffee is not good at Casa Blanca. It has a cinnamon taste. The air conditioner in our room was in need of some maintenance, the fan was noisy and when I lowered the fan speed it was ok.
6.8 Good
Cons: Booked a room with king size bed, but received a room with regular double beds.....faulty in room phone (no wake up call).....beds too soft.....pillows to high (unable to sleep...creates neck muscle cramps)
9.6 Excellent

Capital Plaza Hotel - Chetumal - Pool
6
8.5 Excellent (993 reviews)
S$ 85+
Overview Reviews
Capital Plaza Hotel is centrally located in Chetumal, a 2-minute walk from Museum of Maya Culture and 15 minutes by foot from Fisherman's Fountain. Featured amenities include a business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and a 24-hour front desk. Planning an event in Chetumal? This hotel has facilities measuring 0 square feet (0 square meters), including a conference center. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.0 Good
Pros: The location is great. There are many shopping and food shops directly outside of the hotel. The Mayan Museum is a few feet from the door. The city is not busy like Mexico City, so it is easy to navigate. The price is decent.
Cons: At first glance, the room appears nice and clean; however, I later noticed a lot of "unnecessary" dirt. By "unnecessary", I mean the dirt isn't due to "wear and tear", but simply not cleaning, i.e. the windows and corners. The bathroom was ridiculously small and it looked unfinished. There was no refrigerator in the room. If you're looking for a budget room (assuming the right price), then go for it. Else, if you're looking for a high end hotel, look else where.
7.1 Good
Pros: Spacious room, comfy beds
Cons: Extremely thin walls, had a family staying next door and could hear their annoying children all day and night
4.6 Okay
Pros: Nothing
Cons: We found ourselves in Chetumal unexpectedly after missing a flight and so we were desperate. We came here at 2230 after the hotel further down the road was unbearable due to 4 young men partying in the room next to us, literally behind our heads, screaming. Singing & banging which despite being told not to, they persisted. We moved to the Capital Plaza hotel in the hope of gaining some rest in some degree of comfort. We were wrong. We were allocated a room at the very end of a corridor next to indescribably loud music coming from a party within the building. By 0100 this was unbearable so I got dressed and went downstairs pleading with the front desk to move us. The lady was helpful and did this for us. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THEY DIDNT PUT US HERE AT THE START. It is totally unacceptable to put paying guests through that level of noise, from an event taking place within the hotel.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are clean, beautiful and comfortable.
Cons: It would be very good if a small refrigerator would be in each room or most rooms.
6.0 Good
Pros: The reception personel are good, they assist you all the time. The rooms are cozy. Hotle location is in the center of the city, not hard to find.
Cons: The room towels are dirty, the coffee brewer never been washed or cleaned, staff didn't even explained how to turn on the tv, rooms are not isolated from noise outside, there is a lady knocking on our hotel room 4am in the morming, ac not working good. All workers needs to learn how to speak english.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Almost nice and everything was good
Cons: A bit expencive...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Su personal muy amable y excelente
6.0 Good
Pros: The duvets were wonderful. Shower perfect. Room was nice and clean.
Cons: The guy working in the reception when we arrived was totally ignorant and unhelpful. The reception staff hardly speaks English. The aircon in our room sounds like an engine running... We had read about the birds dumping in the pool- they do- not very nice:/ Wifi hardly working and they seem as if they aren't able to make an effort helping.

5.0 Okay
Cons: Its more wht i didnt like. I was told i was give the last room... the one next to te gym. There was a runner on the threadmill and the noise was so loud that it interupged our sleep at 6am. I approached the staff and all they did was apologized. I had a 7 hour drive to do after that. I was very pissed for not getting a good sleep in this hotel. I would have preferred that they tell me no room was available. It was a terrible experience.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very helpful and happy.
Cons: The breakfast selection is always the same. Everyday! A little diversity in the menu would be great!
5.0 Okay
Pros: I was welcomed on arrival and received friendly and efficient service throughout my stay. I liked the design of the room. Fortunately, the room was clean and comfortable.
Cons: The hotel appeared overwhelmed. The floors in the lobby, in the elevators and on the floors were dirty when I arrived. They were still dirty when I left the next day. After 9 nights in Mexico, this was the dirtiest hotel during my stay. Very cheap shower head. Poor water flow. Very disappointed with City Express.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Was very close access to restaurants and shopping centers, great location easily accessible and lots of space for parking.
6.0 Good
Cons: lobby was not clean
5.7 Okay
Pros: Free continental breakfast is appreciative. The location is good!
Cons: A/C issues. Just wouldn't cool down at all during daytime. Cost is significantly higher than some of the other non-chain hotels available. Which I will definitely choose in the future.

7.0 Good
Pros: Bungalows were very nice and clean
Cons: The restaurant wasnt good. All around The food was bad
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very warm and gracious staff, nothing is a burden all are eager to give you a good holiday. Direct access to the beautiful lagoon so you can avoid the public access, serene and restful I wish I can stay there forever.
Cons: A bit far from town centre but it is all worth it, also the path leading to the entrance (1km) is quite rugged.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in a few places around Bacalar and this definitely has the best facilities in Bacalar. The private palapas on the lagoon are unmatched, and there is table service. It is perfect if you plan on relaxing all day for a few days. The palapa areas on the lagoon are spacious and there is great food served all day at very reasonable prices. Special mention to Eppy who made our stay very relaxing and kept the cold beers coming!
Cons: The bed is not the comfiest and there are lots of mosquitos which still manage to bite even with the mosquito net covering us. There is also no flushing toilet, so that mightn't be everyone's cup of tea.
7.9 Good
Pros: Location to the lake was perfect
6.3 Good
Pros: Location, calm and beautiful. Great homemade breakfast
Cons: The place needs a maintenance upgrade, rusty faucets, mosquito nets were falling, old and bored towels ... Food (breakfast aside) was not so good, not even tortillas were homemade. The price is way expensive for the service and accommodation conditions
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is an absolute paradise!!! My fiance and I were extremely happy with our stay and were already planning our next visit while we were still there. The facilities are up to very good standard and they try to be as ecological and sustainable as possible. The staff is super friendly both in the hotel and the restaurant. Private outdoor showers are awesome!!! The deck on the lake and all the facilities around it including swings, hammocks and free-to-use kayaks are excellent. We were lucky to have visited during low season because it was very quiet and relaxing.
Cons: Nothing that I can fault directly to the property. The only thing I will mention is that the road to get to the property is not up to the highest standard. A 4x4 vehicle would have no problem but any regular car could struggle, especially if it has been raining; just something to be aware of.
5.0 Okay
Pros: First of all, you are just close to the lagoon. You may swim, sunbathe on the bridge or take a free kayak and explore the marvellous lake. Secondly the restaurant is right before the bridge and the breakfast we had included was truly tasty. The lady at the reception can speak English so explained everything and welcomed us with free margarita. Lunch came for us to our wooden sunbeds so it was a pure relax. Very calm place in general, even though there is an open building construction just behind the fence.
Cons: First of all, the road! I am still truly astonished my car managed to reach the property - it is around 1km bumpy, muddy road through the jungle. Once reached, you are doomed to be here (want to visit Bacalar? 10km distance, not for a walk). The villa we got is opened by...padlock and bathroom by...staple. The whole bathroom is outside and it is sooo eco that we don't have sewers here - you can use scobs to cover your sh*t (I do not have to tell you the smell). In the whole room, there was only a one lightbulb. No sleeping table, forget about Wi-Fi. Everything is visible from the outside - not able to cover any blinds.
6.7 Good
Pros: Quiet place at the laguna and enough place to sit and relax
Cons: Cabanas are a bit old and defects like a broken light are not fixed. Which would be easy to do. The road to the hotel is really really bad.

Pros: I was very ill and so we left our initial accommodation and decided to check into Pata de Perro. When my boyfriend told the receptionist she made sure we could check in early so that I would be more comfortable. The room was basic but had good air conditioning, was clean and a really a perfect place to recuperate. They provided me with extra linen so I wasn't cold and were so accommodating. Cons: A little bit loud on the main square but the music was pleasant!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The reception staff were lovely and gave us some fantastic recommendations for food and places to visit. The room was nice and very clean. There are big lockers to store your bags in before/after check out which is great. There was only one shower on our floor which serves 3 rooms but it wasn’t actually a problem for us and there are more showers downstairs. Great location, right on the central square. I would definitely stay here again!
Cons: The breakfast was relatively average, just some bread and cereal. It would have been nice to have had some fruit or something too, but not a deal breaker!

Cons: Smelly old rooms with windows to the indoor pool Could only check in at 4:30pm
7.7 Good
Pros: Clean, modern decor, nice pool, and the location was nice.
Cons: My bed sheet had a hole in it. And we didn't have a place to hang our towels.
4.0 Okay
Pros: We were to check in at 3pm and we didn’t receive a room until around 6pm and the front desk was not fair. Also maybe you can share the closing time of the garage for we couldn’t enter in the garage after a certain hour of the night. Our bathroom toilet was also not working. Also to make things a bit more comfortable to guests it would be better or control the outside events that takes place at the hotel. We couldn’t enjoy the pool.
7.5 Good
Pros: The bed was huge and comfy albeit a bit soft, the swimming pool was great, we had it to ourselves most of the time, the indoor parking space was great, the location: very close to the malecon. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: The bathroom was not great. The toilet did not flush properly and the shower made the whole bathroom floor wet. The towels were very old. That said, the shower pressure and temperature were great and they immediately came to fix the toilet when we complained. Another dislike was that the rooms don't have windows.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location close to all the activity and walking distance from Belize ferry. Free bikes for nice waterfront bike ride. Great friendly staff willing to help . Clean nice sized rooms
7.1 Good
Pros: The location of this hotel is the best! Surrounded by activities and the main shopping boulevard. It contains a good restaurant and Starbucks to satisfy every meal or coffee break of the day.
Cons: Reservations are not accurate. The property tends fo be different from the booking made through this medium therefore being a bit more over priced.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed one night before catching a ferry. The hotel is clean, rooms are modern and clean. Short walk to the terminal for ferry to Belize. Staff were very professional. We didn’t use the pool but it looked fine.
Cons: Rooms face inward to an atrium where the pool is. There is a large frosted glass panel to the interior and no exterior windows, so there is no natural light in the room and it feels quite stuffy quite quickly. The toilet didn’t flush properly, and the shower was only tepid.
6.3 Good
Pros: It’s location - great for the port Plus it’s clean and safe - so does the job if you’re just passing through
Cons: THE POOL! It’s pictured like It’s outdoor but it’s indoor... which wasn’t what we wanted at all! Plus the rooms are clean but really noisy. The man on reception was really helpful but the other staff that we met were very disengaged I
6.0 Good
Pros: Location was good and we got to have our dog with us
Cons: The bar did not have margaritas and the food was terrible
9.6 Excellent
Cons: I was disappointed that they no longer offered complimentary breakfast.

7.9 Good
Pros: I like everything about the hotel. I will glad to go back again pretty soon.
Cons: Nothing
4.2 Okay
Cons: According to the front desk i didn't book my room. It's charge in my credit card! What kind of service is this now i have to pay my card and I had to pay to the front desk cash on that day.
7.5 Good
Pros: Pillows were awesome.
Cons: The room could use a little bit more comfortable furniture, like chairs.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located near the old market so that was very convenient. The room was quite comfortable and the hot shower was a nice availability especially since the weather was cold when we booked the room. Our room had enough space (we booked for triple occupants) for all of us, the availability of the TV and the A.C.unit made our stay quite comfortable. The staff members were also nice which made us felt welcomed.
Cons: The room lacked a few basic necessities however, and that was somewhat disappointing. To begin with we booked the room for three occupants but there was only two towels available in the room. Additionally there were no hand towels nor bathroom rugs and not to mention there was only two bars of mini soap which was barely sufficient for all three of us. It seemed that it would have been sufficient for two occupants only but the room was catered to hold 4 occupants.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Elevator.
Cons: My cc was charge for a room I did not get. Had to pay again over the counter.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Predatory to foreign currency
Cons: Predatory to foreign currency and we believe that we were robbed on the exchange, when compared to market value.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing. Bad experience. Room smelt terrible. and we were being rushed out of our hotel and we are a genius memeber on booking which allowed us an entire hour more. And the staff refused.
Cons: I did not like anything. Will never stay there again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: El personal muy profesional

6.7 Good
Pros: Very comfortable room, clean and spacious.
Cons: The room was literally on the street. You open the room door to a cafe on the street. The bathroom was dated.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice central location in the heart of Bacalar, lovely small hotel
7.9 Good
Pros: -
Cons: Very limited breakfast options.
6.7 Good
Pros: Recepcionist tried to charge twice as much. Any questions asked he did not know. He said he was new.
Cons: I was expecting king size bed. It was supposed to be a de luxe suite. Bedroom very small
7.1 Good
Pros: Very stylish, cool room and very clean. The breakfast was excellent and the terrace perfect to chill out.
Cons: The lady selling tours had no clue about the content of said tours and we paid European price (£200 per night not on the water) for a room where there was no hot water for a shower and no water pressure in the bath. Hotel manager incredibly helpful within his power, as couldn’t be fixed as a national holiday but owner offered a coffee each in recompense for us not being able to shower in our room which was an insult.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Smells bad not nice at all
4.0 Okay
Cons: We couldn’t sleep because the room was super noisy. All conversations from anyone outside were heard; noise from kitchen at 5am went straight to room; there was a drill or something like that from 5 am as well that didn’t let us sleep; room was super cold without additional blankets
7.1 Good
Pros: Decorated beautifully, bed comfortable, nice size rooms
Cons: Not enough options to hang anything - including bath towels and wet costumes. Would be mice to have cozy blankets in the room.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Air conditioning
Cons: Terrible location, worst value for my money of any hotel i have ever stayed. Breakfast was bad to say the least
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The hotel guard who was friendly and help us with our luggage as we were leaving since he was the only one arounb
Cons: Very bad experience. We didn’t feel in Mexico. No towels until 5pm, and they had a greasy smell. They front desk was not able to help us with anything. Not even a couple of ice cubes. The hotel is super noisy, the staff was so loud that I felt like in a local market!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location + smooth and quick check in!
Cons: Restaurant next door a bit noisy, but once we turned the fan on we weren't able to hear anything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I was very ill and so we left our initial accommodation and decided to check into Pata de Perro. When my boyfriend told the receptionist she made sure we could check in early so that I would be more comfortable. The room was basic but had good air conditioning, was clean and a really a perfect place to recuperate. They provided me with extra linen so I wasn't cold and were so accommodating. I wish we had stayed here the whole time we spent in Bacalar! Located right on the square so close to great restaurants, the Fort and only a short walk to the lagoon.
Cons: Nothing!
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location next to the zocalo.
Cons: Rather noisy. Bicycles not available.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hostel is a nice place. It is very close to the lagoon. The staff was really good, they took good care of us.
Cons: It is loud. You can here other guests talking in the hallway.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice kitchen. Clean room. Simple, but ok breakfast.
Cons: The restaurant next door starts playing music at 7.30 am. Couldn’t wash my hair properly in the shower.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location very friendly and helpful staff!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is amazing :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best way to wake up with the fountain running
