Pros: The watermelon at brunch was good
Cons: Paid LOTS of money for a room with a king size bed. This place is NOISY. The sound of people flushing their toilets or running their showers is incredible. The banged up used furniture in our room needs replacing. Knobs were missing from the end tables and chest. The upholstery on the two chairs were pathetic. We parked on the street because this hotel does not have enough parking spaces to accommodate guests. WILL NOT STAY HERE AGAIN.

Pros: Located right as you get downtown, it is walking distance to everything. This makes finding parking a nonissue. Yay. The breakfasts were homemade and nice. Quiche, fresh fruit slices, muffins in addition to the usual fare. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable.

Pros: Normandy Inn is a charming small place, located on the main street in Carmel, close to everything, including the beach. We checked in into two rooms, both in good shape, recently renovated, clean, and comfortable. Mattresses were comfortable too. Breakfast was adequate: cereal, some pasties, fruit and hard boiled eggs.
Cons: We had a dispute with the two clerks on duty regarding our reservation: they thought that we had reserved three rooms while in fact we had only two. After a cordial greeting, the discussion turned into arguments. In the end we found that they have misread our reservation. No apologies were offered. Some patience and a simple "sorry" would have helped.

Pros: The views are stunning and the property is a gem. Gorgeous location off the main road but within a super close walking distance (and if walking isn't for you, there is a shuttle provided). Clean rooms, comfortable beds, extremely wonderful staff. The extras are at every turn - free wine tasting, chocolates on the pillows, hot coco when we checked in, etc. One of the best breakfast buffets I've had. I've stayed here twice and plan on returning every time I visit Carmel.

Cons: Very noisy! Don’t underestimate the other reviews. They’ve got an old steam-based heating system that has a ton of air in it. As a result, you will get woken up all throughout the night to loud banging noise, like someone is taking a hammer to a steal pipe. The sound is coming out of the heater in the room. Do not choose this hotel if you want a good nights sleep. Also very dated rooms. The quality of the room is about what you’d expect from a Travelodge, it does not in any way live up to the $400+ price tag.

Pros: The atmosphere was charming, and the staff was welcoming and generous! We were upgraded and treated to champagne because it was our anniversary. The views were magnificent, and everything was close by! The breakfast was delicious and all the staff were kind and attentive. I was very pleased with our experience! Pros: Hotel tried to portray a high end experience by providing milk and cookies at check in. Wine reception in the evenings. Turndown Servive at night and a decent breakfast buffet that is included.
Cons: Their premier ocean view rooms looked like a holiday In or 3 star hotel at the best. Very poor design and ambiance. Bad holiday in furniture , plastic trees and plants. I expected more for $500 per night, at least rooms that looked better. Also, rooms have no balconeys and hotel does not have a jacuzzi. It is possible that the hotel is offering value for the budget traveller (hard to imagine at over $500 per night). I did notice that better hotels where 30% more expensive when I was in Carmel. I would have preferred to pay about 30% more for better accomadations.

Cons: When I'm paying $1400 to stay 4 nights and get told that they can't possibly give me complimentary wifi or breakfast or ANYTHING... it's annoying to say the least. Interested in squeezing out every last cent possible while offering less in terms of amenities than most other hotels that are a fraction of the price.

Cons: During my stay there was construction being done to the hotel, normally that wouldn't bug me except they put me right next where it was and since I sleep with the windows open, constructure woke me up super early in the morning. Even with the windows closed I could still here it. I was on my anniversary with my way during that day and it Kindof put a damper on my experience, especially since I paid over $200 each night I was there.

Cons: There is a lot of construction around the hotel, which makes things loud and busy. We had to wait until after 5 to check in ad still didn't get what we had asked for. There was a large convention there and basically the staff told us that they couldn't do anything to accommodate us. We ended up with a room on a VERY busy street and a toilet paper rack that kept falling on the ground. I was really looking forward to this hotel and was disappointed.

Pros: The guest rooms are large and nicely appointed. The bed is comfortable. Breakfast is very nice in Jacks restaurant. The entire staff is quite accommodating. We've stayed here many times in the past and will continue to stay here.
Cons: Our room was in a noisy location--on the second floor overlooking an open area where people walked, sat, rode bikes, played music and generally enjoyed the outdoors. The windows were not double-paned and the room was noisier than we would have liked. The bathroom was remodled with a lovely marble countertop--unfortunately it was rather tall for me to use (I'm a 4'11" woman.)

Pros: Super friendly staff, Barbara was incredible! Easy parking, great location. Walking distance to everything you want to see in downtown Carmel. The room was very clean and comfortable, and very well stocked as well. Complimentary breakfast, chimney in the room, sunny and nice decor. I would come back.
Cons: Unfortunately, wifi didn't work. But they are supposed to be looking at changing providers, hopefully this won't be an issue much longer.

Pros: This little hotel was clean, neat, stylish, family and pet friendly. The staff was very nice and incredibly accommodating. The restaurant wasn't half bad either. Its a drive to Carmel-by-the Sea, but only steps away from the shops and restaurants that locals actually frequent.
Cons: It's right off of a major road, which is convenient but not as quaint and quiet as the rest of Carmel. Still a great value!

Pros: We stayed in one of the rooms not one of the cottages so it was tiny but perfect for the two of us. Very cozy. It felt like we were staying in a hobbit hole. We loved loved loved it!

Cons: Area was dark, stand alone room was probably an old shed, floor was creaky, bathroom door not to code, half the size it should be, toilet plugged up, bed was so uncomfortable, spiders in the bathroom. We were so tired and had no other choice, so paying $112 for this was very unsettling. We will never go back, please remove any stars you have on this property.

Cons: Reviews promised a hot tub so we were disappointed that there wasn't one. Breakfast was nothing special - sugary muffins and sugary yogurt, we had to go out to get a real breakfast.

Pros: Close to downtown.
Cons: On the website it said they have a pool. When we got there they said the pool was closed for the winter even though it was 80° out. They should update their website to reflect this. There were only four cars in the parking lot but they put someone in the room right next to us And they decided to wake up at 5 AM and start talking very loudly. It's only for family staying there they should've split us up to give us some privacy and quiet. Remote for the TV did not work as well.

Cons: Room appears to have started renovation and never finished. Missing mirror in main room so left wall with glue and holes. Holes in ceiling from old ceiling fans or light fixtures never patched. Multiple thermostats, NONE operational. Shower broken and must be run with tub on full and not draining to get enough water through the shower. Black bugs. Staff was unhelpful and downright shady. For $400 a night my expectations were higher than a sleazy motel.

Pros: John at the front desk was so sweet, helpful and nice. Give him a raise. Customer service at its finest. Overall, a decide price for a room in that area of Carmel. Close to lots of great shops and restaurants and the beach.
Cons: The guy at the front desk on Friday morning was much less pleasant. I had to ask for a receipt when I checked out. The pet fee ($35) is pretty high compared to other hotels nearby.

Pros: It was a fantastic location within walking distance to lots of great restaurants and shops. Room was clean, had a portable heater inside it, and bed was comfy.
Cons: Parking was pretty limited. There were not enough spaces in their parking lot for each guest to park one car. There was street parking, but you had to be careful of parking times. Room was small, but perfectly suitable for a nice place to sleep.

Pros: Great attitude from front desk staff. Good offerings for breakfast: boiled eggs, yogurt, bananas, oatmeal, cereals, breads, waffles. Beds were comfortable. Our child had his own bedroom. Very charming and quiet.

Pros: Just like any other hotel or inn in Carmel it was a stones throw away from the center of town. Everything is within 10 minutes walking. Complimentary wine tasting was awesome for my girlfriend and I whom celebrated out 1 year anniversary.

Pros: Hotel is very cute and has a lot of character. The gardens are beautiful and easy to walk places.
Cons: We had problems with the heat. The first night it was not turning on and we were freezing. The owner fixed it but then it was over heating the following night and we had to to turn it off. They need to fix their thermostats.
