10.0 Excellent
Pros: The warmest of welcomes from the owner, despite our last minute booking and short notice arrival. Incredibly stylish and individual interior fit-out & decor that the photos don't do justice to, with cute and helpful little service touches all around - from the peppermint giant buttons left on our bedside table to the owner doing my scrambled eggs JUST right as I asked for them in the morning. If you're looking for a homely, high quality stay in this beautiful area, you won't do better.
Cons: Honestly, we can't think of anything. Perhaps including some of the best walks in the area to do in the welcome book in the room would be helpful - if this isn't in there already.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was extraordinary. One of the best breakfasts we've ever had. The house has great atmosphere. The room was very cosy - and the bed was extremely comfortable and big! :) Also the hosts, both James & Stuart are super nice and friendly people. To sum up: this was great finish of our honeymoon and we would recommend this place to anyone - and probably we will be back ;)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! One of the best B&Bs we've ever stayed at! Wish we had stayed longer!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: James & Stuart are perfect hosts, everything is ready with the best hotel standards, but you can really feel at ease as in a friend's house. Save some time to spend in the library of the house by the fire with a gin cocktail that you can prepare yourself, all the needed material is left for you in the room by the hosts, connoisseurs of gin, except for the drinks themselves that you are welcome to bring.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Words can’t describe how perfect this place is or the magnitude of hospitality shown. Practically perfect in every way! Luxury bed and breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What did I like about Firhall? EVERYTHING!!!! The breakfasts were AMAZING! Stuart is a very good chef. Stuart and James are exceptional hosts. Our stay could not have been anymore comfortable. The attention to detail, the amenities, the quality of everything that was provided made it a luxurious 5 star stay. We happened upon Firhall when we were moving on from the Isle of Skye. We booked for 3 nights and ended up extending it to 5 nights because it was so comfortable and hard to leave. We even had Stuart make us a couple of sack lunches and they were delicious as well! It was a joy to interact with both James and Stuart and they both genuinely want your stay to be as comfortable as possible without being overbearing. We intend to make another trip to Scotland because there just was not enough time to see everything we wanted to see. Firhall will most definitely be a stopping point for our next trip! Highly recommend!
Cons: There is NOT ONE thing I didn’t like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are genuinely friendly and welcoming (even when we were just there for a night and needed to rush out early). They run a very nice B&B, high quality, in a very practical location, and all this at very reasonable prices. The breakfast was just brilliant, as is the decor. Well done, absolute gem.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike, really. And I tend to be critical so that's quite exceptional.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was incredible!
Cons: Nothing- we enjoyed our stay immensely!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sensational, would go back for the breakfast alone, room cosy and warm enough, bed, arguably the best B&B bed I have slept in. And the host Beate and Dave, whatever you have read in trip advisor about these two believe it, the finest most gracious hosts you could imagine. Jeez couldn't imagine meeting anyone finer. They are that good.
Cons: Parking, but that's no ones fault, that's just how it is.

Pros: David and Beate were very welcoming and both fantastic hosts. They made our Christmas stay very special with little extra touches such as Prosecco, whiskey and Xmas pudding in the room. David managed to squeeze in a Christmas lunch booking for us in town even though the restaurant was fully booked. He also gave great local recommendations. David also runs Alba tours. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to go on a tour as we didn't have enough time. We will make sure to come back to Haus Alba to do the whiskey tour.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the place, love the house and its set up.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely views over the surrounding countryside from our room. Great to find a dog friendly establishment - just wish there were more around! Hosts were very attentive and eager to make our stay comfortable.
Cons: Not a negative, just a suggestion - we were asked to sit down on arrival to fill out the registration form and also to make our choices for the evening meal, before being shown to our room - a little aperitif would have been welcome after a long drive!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My wife and I were spoilt by Iain. We had a very Most enjoyable 2 days. The breakfast was excellent.
Cons: Nothing, I cannot fault the visit.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Food, location and the building, itself, were fantastic. Great interior with a nice personal touch. The bedroom was delightful with a fantastic jacuzzi bath - perfect for relaxing after a long walk.
Cons: Unfortunately, due to the age of the building, soundproofing is non-existent - we could hear other guests bathroom breaks on the second floor as well as conversation in the landings. This is not the owners fault and certainly not something I would consider a massive negative, only a small irritation. The only other point would be the muted environment; it felt difficult to engage my partner in conversation in anything above a whisper in the dining and living areas outside of the room.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Dava School House is simply wonderful! Sharon and Andy are the most welcoming of hosts and welcomed us into their beautiful home as if we were returning guests. It is a soul occupancy accommodation. So my husband and I were made to feel very special indeed.. Breakfast at the School House are amazing and set you up for the day. Sharon's homemade granola and cheese scones were delicious..and Andy freshly prepared our fresh fruit juice every morning. We felt so pampered . Sharon is very knowledgeable on the surrounding area and beyond and gave us lots of tips and advice on where to go and what to do. The School House is just delightful, and is set in such an idealic location, surrounded my wild moors and hills ~ Yet easily accessible to Grantown-on-Spey and the beaches of Moray Firth.. In all a wonderful stay and we will definitely be returning next year!
Cons: That we only had two nights at this wonderful accommodation. We didn't want to leave. ☹️
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Can't recommend this place highly enough, it's a great place to stay. The building is an old Victorian schoolhouse and there are lots of nods to its previous history. The room was extremely spacious and very tastefully decorated. Very comfortable bed, great shower. There's a real emphasis on sourcing quality local products from great coffee, hand wash, furniture and ingredients. Breakfast was amazing, all fabulous local ingredients and homemade treats. The owners were very hospitable and generous and great for tips on what to do. I wished we'd had a few more days there as there's so much to do in the area. We did some great cycling and hiking in Rothiemurcus and the reindeers are a must-see. I wish we'd also had time to travel east to see the coast too so i'd recommend allowing time for that. The school house is located about 5 min drive outside Grantown on Spey where there are a handful of modest but decent restaurants and bars, and a supermarket.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Delightful and charming place to stay. Fabulous hosts, delicious breakfast, great room, quiet location. The red squirrels and birdlife right outside the property were wonderful to see and hear. Thank you so much for the lovely memories we have of our visit here. Fiona and Michael

Pros: We arrived a little ahead of the stated check in time and were warmly welcomed and told our room was ready. We had booked the attic room with separate private bathroom on the same floor. The room was beautifully furnished and biscuits, tea, coffee, WiFi and sweets were provided. In the bathroom there was everything you could need. Bath salts and bubble bath for the stunning free standing roll top bath, soft towels and other toiletries. There was also a walk in shower. The views from both rooms looked out over the town and surrounding countryside. We enjoyed quiet and comfortable nights sleep. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and provided maps of the town and also spent time explaining other trips we could do either on foot or by car. A cooked Breakfast was freshly prepared each morning and cereal, yoghurt toast and preserves as well as juices were available. The cooked breakfast was delicious. We were disappointed to leave after a 2 night stay. We will definitely return but will spend longer next visit. There is so much to see and do locally and the town has a good choice of shops, bars and restaurants.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location in a cute town right within the national park. The hosts were so much fun to talk to over freshly made breakfast! You just fill out the sheet at night and they make it fresh for you every morning. Hot shower, parking space, great in-room tea selection, in-room radiator heat you can set, and great local suggestions from the hosts made this place wonderful. It was a great stay with locals but you have your own whole space, so it was a perfect balance!
Cons: Nothing - great stay
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great hospitality, very good breakfast, the bed is comfortable and the location is right near a really nice pub, which is one of the few places to eat open in the evening. Our bathroom was spectacular - a stylish large room with both a bathtub and a standing shower, with various bath products included (bubble bath etc..)... The hosts also helped us with a forgotten jacket - thank you very much again!
Cons: Just two minor things associated with the specific room we chose - a) a quite low ceiling in parts of the room (top floor) and b) the bathroom is in a separate room (a bit uncomfortable if you need to use it during the night)

Pros: Host & Personal advices

Cons: Everything was perfect
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a very comfortable stay. The food was excellent and the hospitality was quite exceptional. The location is in a quiet street close to the town centre with convenient car parking on the premises The room was spotlessly clean and fully equipped with all amenities.
Cons: The radiator in my room at the top of the house didn't get as warm as I would have liked.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Host & Personal advices

Pros: The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The host was very welcoming.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.

Pros: The reception staff on arrival were very pleasant and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome. The rooms were exceptional, maybe a little too warm but an adjustment to the radiator thermostat solved that. Plenty of choice at breakfast and the staff were very attentive and friendly. I am unable to comment on the evening meal as we were visiting family in Dulnain Bridge and spent most of our time with them.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: This old but well-kept hotel had a lot of rustic charm for me. I read somewhere that it has historic value since it is one of the oldest hotels in Granton. The staff was soooo friendly, I will never forget them. I enjoyed eating in on all but one night and had a nice breakfast each day. I felt right at home which is not usual for a hotel. But it had kind of a family home feel to it. Also, my room was comfortable and well equipped for my needs. Wifi reception was good.
7.0 Good
Pros: Warm and comfy. We asked for another spare duvet as the 2 twin beds locked together are bigger than for a double and this was sourced quickly. Staff are friendly and we got introduced to some new local vodkas!
Cons: Bigger bar or lounge area to get away from other residents. Decent hairdryer would have been good. The room seemed damp when we arrived but this seemed to improve over our stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Pre- heated room, warm towels and comfy bed. Really nice dinner, relaxed ambience and had a homely feel to the room and the dining areas. Full Scottish breakfast served in the morning. Dining/bar staff were friendly.
Cons: The receptionist could have been more attentive to the customers and not make them wait too long to pay the bills and check out.

Pros: The bed was so comfortable, the room was spacious, the shower and bathroom were fantastic, all the staff were so helpful if you wanted information on where to go or what they would recommend to do, if you required anything extra for your room i.e pillows or more tea or coffee you only had to ask.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly, helpful. Very comfortable bed and a shower with hot water
Cons: Not like too strong a word but couldn't switch bedside lamp on/off. Bathroom light kept going off but by moving slightly came back on.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good choice of food. Well cooked to our liking. Cater for gluten free.
Cons: squeeky floorboards
6.3 Good
Pros: Centrally located, caring accommodating staff
Cons: Very, very noisy
6.7 Good
Pros: The room we had was modern and clean. Good place and very reasonable
Cons: The first room we were given was occupied by 2 other guests. The manager did not apologise, just tried not to accept blame. The second room we were given was clean, but very basic and needed updating. The third room was lovely, However the whole stay was completely over shadowed by the manager, who would not accept help from his staff and tried to deal with matters in front of us, arguing and not accepting any blame rather than dealing with the issue!
6.0 Good
Pros: Full Scottish breakfast was excellent, but left no room for the croissants which looked delicious. My wife said her porridge was disappointing. But then my porridge is the best in Scotland!
Cons: The signage left something to be desired: it took us a while to find our room, lugging a heavy suitcase with us. The radiator in our room seemed unresponsive, so it was chilly before going to bed. It would be useful to have the 'cold' and 'hot'' clearly marked on the taps, particularly if it takes a while for the hot water to come through as was the case in our room (23). We were disappointed that there was no room for a couple of chairs in the room. There was something quite horrible in the kettle, but thankfully the concierge was apologetic and rapidly replacement the kettle.
Craiglynne Hotel - Grantown-on-Spey - Building

6.5 Good (832 reviews)
S$ 119+
Overview Reviews
The Craiglynne Hotel is set right in the heart of the Highlands in Grantown-on-Spey, only 14 miles from the busy Scottish resort of Aviemore with views over the Cromdale Hills. This great value hotel is full of traditional Scottish charm. The hotel dates back to Victorian times and still maintains the attractive stone faade with towers, and bay windows looking on to the pretty gardens with picnic tables. The interior is comfortable and homely; the public rooms and restaurant feature chandeliers, natural dcor and large lounge areas with roaring log fires. The guestrooms are spacious and comfortable with a tartan twist, some rooms have views of the Cairngorms, all have flat screen TVs, en-suite bathrooms and welcome tea tray.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: The beds were really uncomfortable and there was no pressure in the shower
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff were lovely, however, seemed overstretched.
Cons: On arrival, we were given a key to a room that had already been occupied, this isn't an issue for us, mistakes can be made however security is a major risk in this case. We had requested a double bed with a bath which they were unable to accommodate, our own fault for being fussy when they were so busy. Dinner service was quick and staff were again lovely (same staff as checking us in and at the bar) the meal itself although nothing particularly wrong with it certainly lacked attention, for example, When we arrived at the hotel we viewed an al' a cart menu that looked lovely, to then be told at our table this isn't available and a simple bar or dinner menu was being offered this wasn't as impressive. I ordered the Lemon tart for dessert, the plate arrived in no time was freezer cold the whole dish had been prepared in advance and placed in the fridge which meant that the pastry was very soft and not enjoyable. On check out, I asked for the bill to be told they don't print them, an odd arrangement however I was too tired to argue. So paid the bill blind, the amount sounded accurate however I have come away with no idea what we have actually paid for. Even an offer to email may have been better? On the whole, it is a pleasant country hotel, however, I do feel there are some key issues within the day to day runnings of this hotel and being in the industry these are very clear.

Pros: Beautiful grounds, great food
