Pros: The guest house is in a lovely location, looking over the old abbey and just seconds from the main square. The hosts Lisa and Colin are lovely, very friendly and helpful. The room was fantastic, very well appointed, with TV and full bathroom. The breakfast was very good, but has to be ordered the night before (which I understand as the place is not big and it is very helpful to know when to prepare the cooked breakfast). They even have an outdoor patio which was great for relaxing in the sun.

Pros: Our stay was exactly as we expected. Nice place, busy bar. The breakfast was lovely.
Cons: I ordered a well done burger in the restaurant and when it arrived it was still pink, therefore I couldn’t eat it and sadly no one done a check back after our food arrived in fact, the staff all appeared to vanish therefore no opportunity to highlight. Pros: Friendly staff, great location. We were upgraded to room 12 which was lovely of them. Room 12 is really really nice, but of the other rooms we could see when the doors were open, are lovely too. We will return next time we are at the races. Couldn’t fault a thing about the hotel and staff. Breakfast is fantastic. Lovely lady served us. The only reason we didn’t have dinner there is because it was so busy and we couldn’t get a table or we would have ate dinner there too, the bar isn’t huge and was so busy, which is great for business, in the summer, the courtyard would be good to sit in too.
Cons: Nothing we didn’t like.

6.0 Good
Pros: Good location, lovely building and grounds, good wifi, nice breakfast, pleasant staff, spacious room.
Cons: Bed was rock hard - very uncomfortable to sleep. Woke up with back pain. Shower was lukewarm so taking a cold shower in the morning in the middle of January was very unpleasant. While room was nice, the furnishings (wardrobes, chest of drawers) were battered and difficult to use. The drawers kept getting stuck. Room was drafty at times and heating didn't get hot enough. There was a strong odour in the bar. Bit steep at £85 with so many issues that need ironing out.

Pros: Bathroom was immaculate. Food was excellent. Sitting room/lounge was very comfortable. Hall welcoming with a lovely real fire.
