9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and great location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The inn is located in an optimal spot. We were 10 minutes from the Cataloochee ski facility. Maggie Valley is in the middle of Asheville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. It's also very close to Cherokee. There are many restaurants and stores within walking distance. The owners are extremely accommodating and thoughtful. Our room was larger and more modern than I anticipated. This was our first family vacation with our dog, so Cardinal Inn was a great find. The pet fee is very reasonable. Our entire stay exceeded my expectations. We had a wonderful time on our ski holiday getaway and will definitely return.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice but needs more water pressure. Room beautiful. Maggie Valley not much to do. The room was actually the high point of our stay.

Pros: Homey feel from the ladies who own it. Motorcycle crowd seemed to like it. Only 10 rooms total, so no big crowds.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice clean property with friendly and helpful staff, spacious rooms, and continental breakfast in inviting dining area. Dog friendly and sweet and well behaved pups in the office. (If you are not a dog owner and lover, you may not appreciate this fact, but knowledge is power, so make reservations elsewhere if you have dog issues!)
Cons: As in most older hotels, noise does transfer between rooms, particularly plumbing noises. This did not disturb my sleep, but could be a factor if you are sensitive to such sounds.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great large room with mountain stream right out our back sliding door. Nice back porch with rocking chairs. Super nice staff!
Cons: Since I'm afraid of dogs, I didn't like the 3 dogs they have on their property. Also, fill the empty flower pots with some pretty flowers.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great for the New Years celebration. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Liked the balcony over the creek, but did not like the access it allowed to my room in the back of the building for safety reasons. Room did not smell and was clean. Awesome to think of us with fruit/cheese plates and New Years hat/blowers on New Years Eve. That was a very nice touch. We will visit again. Thank you.

5.0 Okay
Cons: Carpet dirty and faded.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful, kind, and not far if you needed them! check in was a breeze. The rooms gave me that home feel as soon as I walked in, plenty of room for my husband, myself and our two kids! Beds were super comfy. The bathroom is huge to say it’s a hotel bathroom, the layout made it feel like a luxury suite. And the shower was stunning and definitely did not feel like I was in a cheap run down hotel. The hotel is very well kept by the owners and cleaners. Our room was cleaned spotless everyday and that’s a lot to say especially since we have two small kids! The staff here definitely do everything they can to make your stay perfect. We grilled out a couple of nights and sat by the fire outside. The owner even made sure we had everything we needed to get our grilling done. There was an ice machine, drink machine, and washer and dryer on site too. And a hidden little treasure at the back of the property is a little stream. I’m close proximity to everything you would need in Maggie valley! And there’s a restaurant attached to the hotel! Overall I give a 10/10. I have no complaints and we would definitely stay here again!!

Cons: Had no problems...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the layout of the cabin. It was very comfortable. Easy self check in. Everything you need for a relaxing stay.
Cons: This cabin was evidently pet friendly. We didn’t realize that before our booking. While the cabin was very clean, the smell of dog was very noticeable.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was very good for the agenda we had. Easy access in and out of the Smokey Mountain National Park without a lot of gridlocked traffic.
Cons: The heater wasn’t working properly. When we returned around 6:30pm from a long day the temp in the cabin was in the fifties. I left a message for the host but she must have been out because I did not here back. I turned off the furnace for a while and back on later and the temp came up to the thermostat setting, but after a few cycles, it stopped working again. This continued throughout the night and I had to get up several times to restart the furnace. Luckily there were plenty of covers and blankets to keep us warm between resets. We left early in the morning, so I never got the chance to speak with anyone.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Quiet and generally things worked.
Cons: Very cramped bedroom and bathroom. Bed dipped in the middle and was uncomfortable. Settees were very uncomfortable too and we both had sore backs by the end of our stay. Basic cooking utensils.

Cons: WiFi was a little weak. But I was on vacation.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: It was like camping indoors. The beds & family room furniture were very comfortable. We were "glamping"!
Cons: As far as showering, the hot water was limited. However, it was better than no hot water if we were truly camping outside in the rough.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly, the room clean and breakfast area was good experience.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location in Maggie valley is great and very convenient to get to the Smoky Mountains Park. Breakfast has a lot of options, including hot food such as eggs and sausages and bacon etc. Some staff were nice and friendly. Never had an issue finding a parking spot close to our room.
Cons: Room could have been cleaner - when I am not staying at a roadside motel for $60, I expect my hotel rooms to be "spic and span" and this one was not especially in the bathroom area. This is common to hotels in this price range but: the A/C blasts hot air so one faces a dilemma of being cold in the winter months or struggling to sleep with the noise and waking up with a dry face.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: No
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The staff sent us around to other properties until we ended up back at this place. No receipts available - smoking all around the room Disgusting

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our second time there in 2 weeks. I am disabled and use a walker, and the lady from the office asked my husband if I was ok? She showed concern and it was touching. On our second visit my husband worked later than normal and we didn't arrive until 2am, the lady behind the counter was just so nice. It was later than we expected but we were still accepted and welcomed very warmly and as usual other than the staff, the hotel exceeded our expectations and we will continue to stay here with every visit we make.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The employees were nice. Easy check in.
Cons: The building is showing its age and is in need of many updates. Shower head is way to low for average height people. Floor is very unlevel under carpeting. Furnishings are outdated. Few electrical outlets. The chairs were not comfortable if you needed to spend any time in the room. They leave the bare necessities as far as towels and blankets. Glad I brought my own blanket because I didn’t feel comfortable using what was provided. This motel could be turned into something wonderful if the owners would spend the money to update the rooms.

Cons: I liked everything.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location was good. It was what I expected for the price. We just needed a bed after skiing.
Cons: The bathroom door did not latch. The toilet paper holder was broken. The hairdryer would not stay running. It would turn off after one minutes use. I did not expect perfection for the price. Got what I paid for.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice area
Cons: Everything was good
4.2 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Small bathroom loud parties sorry breakfast and not clean
4.0 Okay
Pros: The clean comfortable bed.
Cons: The door had a gap under it that allowed cold air to come inside the room. The bath tub was too small for an adult and the knobs for the tub spigot had so much chalking around them it made them hard to turn. The bathroom didn't have much water pressure.
6.0 Good
Pros: Was right next to the ski resort.
Cons: Smell of hotel was a little musty.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Awful WiFi service. For any practical purposes, it's useless.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location was good and the one member of the staff (owner?) I met was very nice and helpful. Gave a excellent recommendation for eating within walking distance of the hotel.
Cons: Cobwebs and spiders in the bathroom window. Every time you turned on tv you had to reset the input mode. Smoking on the balcony. People would step out of their room and smoke and it would filter into my room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Deep clean room, no Dead corner, bright and shining; hard to find now. Staff giving tips and information of local attraction.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Room on first floor
Cons: Old, smelly, key did not work most of time, shower head not spray correctly, and room did not get cool enough.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Rooms are dated, bathroom grout was black with mold.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Housekeeper was super nice and friendly. Location was good for skiing. Room was cleaned everyday.
Cons: BEWARE OF PET FEES!!!! They only advertise that there "may be a fee charged for pets". I assure you, there is. Any animal over 41 lbs is $30/pet/night. It is hand-written behind the desk. This almost doubled our price of the room for the time we were there. Staff was less than concerned saying it is the owners policy. They are renovating and water lines were cut twice in the 5 nights we were there resulting in no water for several hours both times. There are many other pet-friendly motels around (try the Cardinal next door. We will use them next time). We won't return to Castlewood.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Had stayed before expecting better.
Cons: Reserved king and got 2 queens. Was cold had huge crack under door. Curtains would not fully cover windows and beside steps and drink machines so was very noisy.

1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: For the cost this hotel was very unimpressive. The bed heads had graffiti carved into them. The aiirconditioner/Hester was so loud that we had to turn it off. There were no extra blankets. Very poor.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The pool was working. The price was one of the better ones in the area.
Cons: Hot tub was broken with dirty water in the hot tub. Bathroom next to the pool was broken. The door on the east end of the building had a security entry installed but was broken, so the door was left unlocked. The carpeting in our room was badly stained.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Neisha was exceptional. She answered all my questions and also gave directions to a lot of cool places. I will definitely be staying here again.

Cons: Air filter for hvac unit was very dirty
3.4 Mediocre
Pros: The facility was very outdated and worn out
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The girl who checked us in was really helpful on which restaurants to eat at
Cons: Mold in the bathroom paid 21 dollars more for this place because the comfort inn was booked for New Year’s Eve so we’ve stayed at a few Hilton’s thought it would be nice piece of missing wood on the head board breakfast was a joke the maids knocked on the door at 10:00 check out was at 11:00 same lady cleaned the room made breakfast that’s fine but she knew we weren’t leaving right away we had a sweet with two person jacuzzi suite at comfort inn less money in person your company wanted 149.00 same day on your site very unsatisfied the Hilton’s must need money to put their name on your motel
5.0 Okay
Cons: Expensive for a basic 2 Star.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Not a thing
Cons: You could tell right away how cheap the hotel was. They didn't even have the air conditioning on in the room or the hallways. Very dated. The "leather" headboards had names a drawings carved all over them. I'm not too sure how clean the place was
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location was good. Price was reasonable.
Cons: Property is dated. Needs to be refurbished. A lot of built up dust along edge of carpet and in corners. Breakfast wasn't up to par. Eggs and sausages were only like warm. The bananas were overly ripe (black & dark brown).
6.0 Good
Pros: Hotel was in a great location.
Cons: It was an older place and that's fine, but it could have been much cleaner, especially at over $--- a night.

It's also very close to Cherokee. There are many restaurants and stores within walking distance. The owners are extremely accommodating and thoughtful.

Thank you.
Cons: Room carpet could use replacing. Shared balcony with every room made us a bit nervous. Bathroom had several black hairs in the shower. Breakfast offered much less than other places.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Carpet dirty and faded.
