Dollar appears to double charge airport concession fee and transport (airtrain/building) "transaction" fee even for customers who don't use the airtrain and even though the building is part of the concession. 3. Everything. The car wasn't available on Friday, the agency closed earlier. Leaving me no choices than cancelling my WE plans. Finally got another car (completely different quality of car by the way...) on Saturday morning. And to end up the process they overcharged me even more and I had to open a claim physically. Worst experience of my life whereas I am renting cars very often (over the last 2 months I rented 10 different cars with multiple companies). I will never go to Sixt and I will spread the word and advise that everyone do the same.6.8 Okay

All was fine until SIXT dropped a surprise one after dropping it off claiming I had gashed a hubcap and asking me to fill out a ludicrous full accident report for it and asking if I called the police. Good deal on the convertible car for the day. Employees were helpful at Union Square at time of visit.Cons:
My reservation said to pick up my car at Fisherman's Wharf but the car wasn't there so I had to go to Union Square to pick it up, but the employee at Fisherman's Wharf told me I had to call customer service myself and let them know I was coming. Then at Union Square, the employees had a difficult - lengthy - time figuring out how to switch everything for me to rent the car. Overall it took 2 hours to rent this car when most of the time was spent waiting. Not employees fault, the system seems to be partially broken.National

They didn't have a small-sized car that I originally requested, and first gave me a large Ford sedan that was very loud (the moment you turn it on, it makes a VROOM noise without accelerating), and when I requested a different car they said they only had a large SUV, so I ended up taking that which was very uncomfortable to drive.8.4 Very Good

Car was new (3,000 miles), clean and ran great. Pick-up at airport was smooth and relatively quick. Rented from Dollar, a sub of Alamo.Cons:
Rental agent failed to mention that the drop off point in the Fisherman's Wharf area was in the lower parking garage in the Sheraton hotel. The sign for Dollar Rent a Car is hidden from street view and the address for 2500 Mason Street does not seem to exist. It is actually down an alley in the center of the Sheraton. It took an extra 25 minutes of circling the block and finally a call to the rental desk before I could find out where to bring the car in for a landing.10.0 Wonderful

The car was nice and very clean, and I appreciated being able to get a car easily during the pandemic.Cons:
I booked a drop-off location that was closed at the time that I had selected when I started the rental, and was told that extending the rental until the next day would cost me $150, which is about 8x what I had paid for the first day. I was told I would also have to pay $150 if I was late dropping the car off at an alternate location, which was much further away. I ended up making the drop-off time and avoided the charges, but was frustrated by being threatened with penalties for a situation that wasn’t my fault and I should have been alerted of when I booked the car, or when I picked it up.2.0 Poor

That I could actually get the van I booked. I was on a cruise ship that was delayed because a passenger was critically ill. We had to return to Honolulu so the Patient could get the care needed. This along with a storm at sea made as a few hours late. I called on Tuesday morning to confirm our van would still be waiting and was told that the reservation had been canceled. It took an exorbitant amount of time to find out why and then to find that there were no more vans available, at all. This was even true of Budget’s sister agency, Avis. I ended up having to book a larger van through Enterprise for 7.5 times the amount of your quote for the minivan. Needless to say I am not happy with the outcome. I will think twice before using your service again.10.0 Wonderful

Reserved a SUV but when I arrived I was told they didn’t have any and I had to pay extra $50+ to get an upgrade, so I ended up drove away with a sedan. Also you had to be really careful now when you book a rental because there could be some hidden charges! I thought filling gas used to be an option (either you pay for a full tank upfront or filling up yourself upon returning your rental), but now they do t even give you that option because “your rate doesn’t give you the option” as I was told! No more Budget for me for sure!5.6 Fair
