Peacock Guest House - Bhaktapur - Building
1
9.2 Excellent (355 reviews)
S$ 72+
8.0 Excellent
Pros: very friendly staff. great location, nice decorated room.
Cons: just keep in mind that the rooms are not insulated and don't have a heating system. hotel provides small electric heater which keeps you warm if u sit in front of it and electric blanket. we liked it but the stairs are steep and narrow, impossible/difficult for older or "not slim" people. the only thing they could improve is the fire protection. there are not emergency exit signs and emergency lights, no fire-detection in the room. and it's a wooden house! in case of fire u will be lost.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, hot water and design of the space was very nice. The housekeeper was very nice and helpful!! It was also very easy to book our transport in and out of bhaktapur, thank you!
Cons: Very small room - would not recommend for anyone above 1.84m as you wouldn't be able to stand up straight. Our room faced the small street and we could hear every sound on the streets in the morning - it's relatively quiet at night.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely beautiful historic building. Location is excellent set right in the main Dattretraya square. We booked the classic double room with city view which is a really beautiful room looking out directly over the square. The breakfast was superb and the people running the hotel are lovely.
Cons: Whilst the room was beautiful it is extremely noisy till fairly late at night and from very early morning 4.30am with outside noise in the square, people and temple bells being rung. The room also has barely any insulation and only one small halogen heater which is pretty ineffective so was very cold in December.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love this place!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: nice location in a historical building, 5 minutes walking from durbar sq. kind staff and food very tasty
Cons: heating in the room
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Peacok guesthouse is an amazing place and accomodation in one of an ancient building in Bhaktapur, located in a small square. Breakfast was really good and food at dinner was amazing. Staff is really helpful and kind speaking a perfect english. The man helped us with the transfer to Pokhara booked for us tickets. In a warm season you can join more the common space.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I loved the history and the 700 yr old architecture. It was beautiful with low doors, wooden beams etc. The rooms were ok and the beds had a much needed electric blanket. The food was great and it was lovely to sit having a meal with the owners daughter sitting beside us playing. The coffee was excellent.
Cons: It was cold, though this seems to be an issue everywhere in Nepal in January. There are convection heaters in the rooms but they weren’t enough and mine had to be propped upright. Also the plug sockets we used to charge phones etc were loose so difficult to use. My sons sparked. Overall it was great though and I would go back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room and hotel were beautiful and really comfortable. The breakfast was excellent each day and everyone at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place, good food and friendly staff.
Cons: A bit cold in the winter but the electric blanket in the bed was perfect

Breakfast is a fixed offering of omelette, toast, butter, jam, muesli, yoghurt, fruit with a choice of tea or coffee (the masala tea is delicious!) Lovely staff, and a superb location, you step out onto one of the lanes leading into a main square with fabulous architecture. I recommend the Kumari Guest House and would stay here again.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was helpful. The location is great, right next to Bhaktapur Durpar square. The room was very clean, with heater - our savior during winter time. Shower was hot.
Cons: the bathroom smells badly when we first came in, but the staff put in the odor elimination.

Pros: I like the beautiful room with cultural decorations, full of Bhaktapur touch. Also like the friendly staff, convenient location (1min walk to Dubar Square), delicious & hearty breakfast (egg, toast, fruit, yogurt, tea/coffee) served at rooftop with nice view.
Cons: Almost perfect, just the hot shower is not always hot, sometimes it's "warm" because it's solar heated...but not a big problem.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location within short walking distance to the historic squares. The room was clean and modern with a bonus heater which was great in the cold weather. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very very helpful and friendly family! We had here the best breakfast during our 9 months traveling! Cozy spacious room with very clean bathroom.
Cons: There is a wedding/reception place next to the guest house so when there is a party there is music till 21:00. But when the reception is finished it is very nice and quiet! And the garden is very beautiful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was so quiet and peaceful place. It has nice buildings, wonderful terrace, and beautiful garden. The owner gave me so useful and information.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a special place. The owners are the nicest people we've met while traveling, they will help you with all your needs, always with a sincere smile on their faces. They even lent us their kitchen for our Christmas diner!!!! Having a good conversation about the local culture with Adjee by the fire pit was very interesting. Breakfast is awesome, the room is very cozy and warm, and the shower is hot all the time. Adjee's information on local attractions and restaurants were very precise and helped a lot. And the early morning yoga class was such a good surprise! If I went back to Bhaktapur, I would surely go back to Krishna House.
Cons: All perfect!
7.9 Good
Pros: The family running Krishna House is extremely friendly. They try to accommodate your needs. The owner also tries to inform you about the city Bhaktapur and is most helpful at telling you where to go.
Cons: You are staying at the house of a Nepali family. Everything is more than fine but do not expect room quality is similar to a hotel. We had a large, but basic room, with a very basic bathroom.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: excellent breakfast, location, atmosphere and cleanliness in room!
Cons: The night was HOT and there were no light blankets nor fan. Both are standard in many places and would improve the stay greatly.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: We were made most welcome and comfortable by our friendly and helpful host. The breakfast was exceptional and we were offered tea without extra charge. There was a seating area alongside the dining room with a wonderful library. We were particularly lucky to be able to enjoy the new year celebrations (in April) which were spectacular and took place in the historic centre of Bhaktapur - a short walk away. There was a good selection of inexpensive restaurants nearby.
9.6 Excellent

Pros: Rooms were comfortable and clean. The shower was good and hot. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is great. The breakfast was sensational!
Cons: The bathrooms were clean but dated. The street noise begins about 5am and one night a dog opposite hotel barked all night long. This is no fault of the hotel and I’ve found is common in Nepal, regardless of where you are.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: I am writing to show our great appreciation from our hearts to your excellent service and generous help when we stayed at your hotel on behalf of my family. There was one emergency that we experienced proving your great efficient management and great hospitality. On 13th, Aug, 2018, I, with my wife and son, checked in your hotel. While in the evening at around 11:00 pm that night, my son felt very uncomfortable and was difficult to breathe smoothly. He had serious asthma and throat swelling which made him hard to sleep and speak. We felt it seemed that he might be allergic and needed immediate medication to relieve the breathing difficulty, so we immediately told the reception the help we needed and hoped the hotel could manage to send us to the hospital nearby as soon as possible. The staff at reception immediately informed Mr. Prakash Dhaubadel to deal with this emergency. Prakash sent us to Iwamura Hospital, which is the nearest one to the hotel, for medication by car. He also helped us to communicate with local doctors and the pharmacist. Since the hospital only accepted cash and we didn’t have enough cash at hand, he even initiated to help to pay for the fee of emergency registration and medicine. As my son’s situation went well after one hour’s treatment and observation, he sent us back to the hotel and comforted us that he would send us to the hospital in the downtown Kathmandu if necessary the second day. He was always by our side and showed great concern for every details that night. When he saw us in the second morning, he inquired for the details of how we gave medicine to our son and if we needed any help to other hospital downtown. We feel lucky to choose to stay in your hotel because of Mr. Dhaubadel’s professionalism and your efficient management. Without such immediate supports and help, we couldn’t image the consequences of this emergency, so we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Mr.
Cons: The lock of the room was broken when we stayed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The large room, the garden, the staff, the breakfast
Cons: Everything was ok. The hotel is not in the old town but this for someone could be better

5.4 Okay
Pros: The hotel located on the hill of Bhaktapur which is not in the old city. It’s about 25mins walk from hotel to Durban square. The hotel restaurant has a very nice view of the whole city and mountains. When I check out, the staff wants to charge me 10% of service fee on top of the final price given in booking. Finally she didn’t charge successfully because the price was clearly written in my booking. So your are suggested to read your bill carefully.
Cons: The hotel hygiene is acceptable. Inside the refrigerator, it’s dirty. I gave up using it.

Pros: We really enjoyed meeting and getting to know the family who ran the hotel. They had a lot of knowledge about the area and were very helpful. It can make a lot of difference in a hotel visit.
Cons: We were surprised to find that the shower had no curtan or door or clean mats. It didn't turn out to be terrible, but would seem to be something that could possibly changed.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A very comfortable stay. The staff was very accomadating, and the special breakfast was the best.
Cons: Nothing to complain
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I stayed at the Bhaktapur Paradise Hotel for six weeks (end of February to beginning of April 2019). This hotel is amazing! If you want to live in a very clean, very comfortable family-run hotel in the middle of a local community, Paradise is the right place for you. The staff are extremely welcoming and can't do enough to make your stay as memorable as possible. When the weather is right, you get fantastic views of the Lang Tang range. Nothing is too much trouble for Shree and his team. He can tell you everything you need to know about the Kathmandu valley and the whole of Nepal. He can take you on very informative site seeing tours and be your personal guide. UNESCO World Heritage Sites are very close in Bhatapur and Kathmandu. Transfers to and from the airport are complimentary and they look after you all the way through immigration if that's what you need. The food is varied, nicely presented and extremely tasty. Service is excellent. Housekeeping was to a very high standard and usually plenty of hot water. We did experience power cuts from time to time, that's common in Nepal, but the hotel has a standby generator on hand which never let us down. The wifi is also great. It was a real pleasure to stay there and I look forward to renewing my friendship with everyone there when I return.
Cons: The only small downside is the barking of dogs which you notice sometimes in the night, but again this is common across Nepal. It's no big deal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: mountain view location , staff is good , nice experience to be in Bhaktapur paradise
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice Stay ..Owner and Staff was very humble and helpful
Cons: Exhaust Fan was not in Bathroom . So sometime it stinks as air circulation is not there. Should have some more option for Indian Breakfast

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The courtyard garden is stunning, calm, quiet and green (rare for Bhaktapur). We had the beautiful honeymoon suite on the top floor with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. Krishan is a super helpful, friendly and obliging manager, and the other staff members are great too. The location is excellent - halfway between Durbar Sq and Tamadi Sq. The breakfasts are delicious. We loved our stay here. Thank you.
Cons: Note that because the guesthouse is within the old town of Bhaktapur, foreigners pay a one-time tax to enter the district (valid for the entire length of the validity of your visa). The good news is that this tax goes to the restoration of the ancient buildings which were damaged in the 2015 earthquake, so it is a good cause. Your taxi will drop you a few hundred metres from the guesthouse, Krishan or the other staff will meet you at the taxi and help carry your luggage for you if needed.

Pros: Very friendly host with fantastic restaurant recommendations, great breakfast!
Cons: Communication with some of the staff was a little difficult, wi-fi didn't reach my room, not the best place to stay to meet other travellers although the owner of the hotel is building a hostel across the road!

7.5 Good
Pros: Great location in midst of the action in Pottery Square. Cosy room
Cons: The toilet was very small and had a musty smell. The reception claims you can pay with credit card until checkout when attempting to do so it does not work.

Pros: Great location. Helpful, friendly staff.
Cons: Small bathroom.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff here were INCREDIBLE. They were so accommodating and really made our stay. We had a very late flight and they were so kind and let us use the room for longer. The location was incredible, right in the heart of Bhaktapur!
Cons: At first the hot water wasn't working (and it was cold outside!) but the staff were super lovely and turned the power on to heat it up (wasn't heated because there had been no sun).
7.5 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel is perfect, the staff is vry friendly and the rooftop restaurant is amazing.
Cons: There was no hot water in the shower during our stay. The room could be cleaner. We had issues with the check-in, because our booking was not received by the hotel.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and helpful staff, delicious breakfast on the rooftop.
Cons: Rooms are not heated, so it gets cold in the evenings (I was there in December). Also hot shower not available in the morning in winter, as solar panels are used.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: great location, excellent breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, modern wet room, and a tasty breakfast served on the rooftop with superb views!
Pros: Great location, clean and comfortable, and lovely staff. No complaints
9.6 Excellent
The streets were mostly quiet at night and the rooftop breakfast was excellent and even included some of the famous local 'king curd' The property arranged laundry and taxis for us as requested.
Cons: Shower was always warm but not hot - solar panels for heating

Cons: Nothing, everything was great
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect, the shower piping hot, the beds vey comfortable, the decor is lovely and the staff are great!
Cons: It wasn’t a problem for us as we get up early anyway, but if you like sleeping in you might find it gets too noisy (as the neighbourhood wakes up at 5am, including the local rooster). But night time it is lovely and quiet!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, breakfast and location!
7.0 Good
Pros: Location:center
Cons: Very cold
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were comfortable and clean. The shower was good and hot. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is great. The breakfast was sensational!
Cons: The bathrooms were clean but dated. The street noise begins about 5am and one night a dog opposite hotel barked all night long. This is no fault of the hotel and I’ve found is common in Nepal, regardless of where you are.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The newari baata.
Cons: There was no shampoo and body wash. The quality of door mat was bad.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location Very very nice crow Good price Realy clean
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We (family of 4) stayed here in 2 beautiful and comfy rooms. The free breakfast was superb. The staff is super friendly and helpful. When we are back in Bhaktapur we won't hesitate for a moment to book in Tulaja again. PS: as life in the alley where this hotel is located starts rather early, earplugs can come in handy.
