Buffalo's Theater District and Chippewa Entertainment District are within blocks and more than 50 restaurants are within a half a mile. The Buffalo Niagara Convention Center is an easy stroll. Anchoring the first seven floors of Avant, Embassy Suites Buffalo is part of an innovative, mixed-use vertical community reclaimed from a decommissioned federal building. Embracing green construction standards, the former structure was stripped to the shell and replaced with a dramatic glass curtain wall design on the outside and the latest in guest comfort and amenities within the brand new all-suite hotel. Each of the two-room suites shares the drama of the glass wall views, as well as designer furniture, finishes and wall coverings. Thirty-two inch LCD televisions are mounted in both the living room and bedroom of each suite. Guests will also enjoy in-room High Speed Internet Access (wired and wireless), wet bar, refrigerator, and microwave and other extras. Ten expanded suites offer in-room whirlpool tubs. Complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast is offered each morning and a complimentary Evening Reception is held daily for two hours. It offers a high end lounge with large-screen televisions and comfortable fare as well as a sweeping patio featuring a fireplace, outdoor grill and direct connection to the active night scene on Chippewa. Avant’s stunning architecture has quickly become a downtown signature. The gradual, undulating, glass wave on the front of the building creates a distinctive profile, as well as a "bump out" of additional space in Executive Suites on the east side of the building. While each hotel room has it's own distinct view including Lake Erie, the Niagara River, City Hall, cityscapes and even the mist of Niagara Falls – these "bump out" rooms offer stunning floor-to-ceiling city views with the feeling of being suspended over Delaware Avenue below. Guests can relax in an oversized whirlpool facility or enjoy lap swimming in the adjacent indoor pool. A wide variety of cardio and weight-training equipment await in the fitness center. Both areas have controlled access for hotel guests. An airport shuttle is available to all guests for a $10 fee one way, per room. It leaves the hotel at the top of each hour and runs from 7am - 10pm. Embassy Suites Buffalo is located within minutes of the regions major highways including the New York State Thruway, Interstate 190, and Routes 5 and 33. The 200 Delaware Avenue address places guests at the center of the action for the nation's second largest food festival, "Taste of Buffalo" held each July as well as the St. Patrick's Parade with its reviewing stand within yards of the hotel’s front door. The Allentown Art Festival and the Buffalo Wing Festival are within an easy walk. Pros: It has personality. Unlike the cookie-cutter hotels that look the same in every place, the Lenox Hotel is unique. It reminded me of some great pre-War apartment building in Manhattan. The room was somewhat spare as far as furnishings, but it was immaculate. And the hardwood floors were clean and lovely. I was with my six-year-old daughter and we both loved it. We were there on St. Patricks Day (completely unintentional). On a Saturday night. One would think that the noise level would be horrible, but it wasn't. I heard a couple of doors open and close and a couple of conversational-level voices, but that was pretty much it. Don't believe all the negative reviews. This place is a gem (and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly).
