Pros: Impeccable elegance.
Excellent10.0
Pros: Zoltan at reception was a star. The restaurant and bar team were efficient and friendly. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Looking forward to our next visit
Excellent10.0
Pros: Beautiful historic hotel in the perfect location. The staff could not have done more to be helpful. The room was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spectacular.
Cons: The light level in the room was so subdued that it was difficult to see inside your suitcase. Other than that no complaints at all.
Okay5.7
Pros: I told them I am severely asthmatic. When I walked into the room I immediately smelled musty old rug that was cleaned at least dozens of times and exhausted its useful life a long time ago. I went back to the front desk and told them needed a different room for medical reasons and willing to pay more. The front desk person and the day manager told me that they did not have availability without any serious they said no without any consideration and force me to sleep in this room where I ended up wheezing all night. They also lied to me that all the rooms were renovated at the same time and were the same. And it turns out that there were at least a few rooms available.
Cons: The front desk staff should care about the wellbeing of their customers. Poorly trained and inconsiderate.
Excellent9.4
Pros: The Number One was a tremendous experience. The hotel and restaurant staff could not have been better during our stay. I would simply say keep it up!

Pros: Great stay!
Excellent9.4
Excellent8.8
Pros: It was situated in a perfect place, a stones throw from the bus stop for the airport shuttle & from princes street. The room was stylish and could only have been made better by placing plugs in better location. .
Cons: Overall 9/10, only slight issue was plug situation and breakfast was expensive
Excellent9.1
Pros: I thought it was a lovely budget hotel and the location to all the attractions was perfect. I would recommend this hotel to travellers.
Cons: I didn't like that I had to pay inflated prices because the festival was on. Also I took I'll with a bug so didn't have as good as stay as planned. Nothing to do with the hotel I might add.
Excellent10.0
Pros: The location is excellent, both for seeing the city, and for transport (the airport bus stops 100 meters from the door, and the Waverley station entrance is not much farther

Pros: All the amenities. Plenty of outlets, USB too.
Cons: Rooms are too small
Excellent10.0
Srsly excellent from stepping out of my taxi- and I was high maintenance. Six pieces of luggage bc moving to Scotland. Diverse staff. Asked bell hop about tipping and he gave me the exact rundown I needed from an industry perspective. Wanted to be left alone with my in my beautiful room and I was, super quiet despite housekeeping in other rooms. Black out curtains for jet lag. Went down to model an outfit for concierge (trying to figure out casual pub-wear for a first date) and she was super helpful in distinguishing my happy hour cocktail wear vs pub. Even the coffee at breakfast was basically the only American style drip/filter coffee I’ve found anywhere in Edinburgh so far. I really can’t say enough good things about this place, or its location.
Excellent8.3
Pros: Staff were excellent Breakfast varied and high quality Location perfect for seeing Edinburgh
Cons: Niggly maintenance issues eg door handles broken, shower pulsed hot and cold, noisy plumbing

Pros: Amazing hotel in a great location. Don't miss the wonderful nearby Southern Cross Cafe!
Excellent10.0
Pros: Beautiful, excellent location
Cons: No coffee or non caloric sweetener in room
Good6.2
Pros: the location it was right in the middle of nearly everything we went to go and see. It was also right next to the train station which is how we arrived.
Cons: the cold shower on Saturday and Sunday that was not fun. If you are going to charge premium price than it better be a premium hotel. It certainly not a 4 star hotel given the maintenance of their equipment. They need to replace the boiler, I heard it was not the first time they only had cold showers

Pros: Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast.
Cons: Got bait and switched. Upon checkin was told that breakfast was included with the prepaid reservation. Great! Upon checkout was informed I owed something like £60 for breakfast. Tried to argue my case but had a train to catch and ended up with a "discount" to £40. Extremely shady. Will let my CC company take care of this.
Good6.5
Pros: Location, cleanliness and the staff who welcomed at door. They have a great manner and seem genuinely want to please guests.
Cons: Reception staff need much more warmth, smile more and actually treat people as such. Rooms clean bu quite small for price - felt a little cramped at time.
Excellent8.0
Pros: Location. Friendly Staff. The new bar/restaurant area looks good however the only downside is the seating area near the bar soon filled up and even though there were empty tables on the lower floor level there seemed to be a reluctance to give these to guests who just wanted a drink.
Cons: The reception area is still going through refurbishment which meant long queues soon began to build up when guests began arriving in numbers which was an inconvenience to be honest. No doubt this will be resolved when the work is completed.
Excellent9.4
Pros: A very centrally located hotel with a freindly and helpful staff. The room was of a fair size with all you would expect of a hotel of this standing.
Cons: Although the room was finely furnished the room lighting was poor.
Good6.3
Pros: Location and reception areas were great.
Cons: Room was terrible. Really hot. Could not open window and AC not working. Staff unwilling to help.
Good6.0
Cons: There was no air conditioner in the room. The room I got was in the basement close to a very noisy load and unload area. Eventhough they had better rooms available, they asked me for extra payment in case I wanted a different room.

Pros: We liked the welcome and all the staff who were friendly and helpful. The room and bed were extremely comfortable, great breakfast and the whole stay was a delight. The hotel is very well placed for getting round Edinburgh. We would highly recommend and would definitely use it again.

Pros: Spacious suite living room, separate half guest bath, Decent breakfast with separate order menu, gym had free weights to 30kg, location is on royal mile down road from castle (but for Christmas markets and shopping, a princess street hotel would been better), overall friendly staff.
Cons: 1. For a royal mile suite, main bathroom was standard. Overly spacious living room really could’ve spared space for a more comfortable bathroom befitting suite. 2. Website advertised kids eat free. However, when we ordered meals for the kids via room service, we were told it’s not free. Extremely deceptive and off putting of brand. 3. I emailed the hotel 1 week in advance of 4-day stay and asked for milk, orange juice, and water in room stocked and included room mini fridge. Email from customer service acknowledged request and even confirmed we still wanted wine and beer - a nice catch! However, when we arrived, we were informed juice and milk not included. False service promise should’ve not been made. Room service food was Not worth price (pizza, burger, and kids chicken meal were only ok but far more expensive than eaterery options all around).

Pros: The room
Cons: There was a refurb going on so had to put up with constant drilling was not relaxing
Excellent9.4
Pros: Great location, superb interior design of the room. Very modern style
Cons: In-hotel gym was temporarely out of service bu the hotel offered a free entry at a partner gym

Cons: The fridges were dirty and the carpets could do with new ones

Cons: Can't think of anything

Pros: Old world charm meets modern amenities- you can't go wrong with this hotel right on the royal mike in Edinburgh. Excellent staff, well maintained rooms, and full service. Health club has good assortment of machines and free weights.
Cons: It's bloody cloudy in Scotland- spent an entire week and didn't see the sun once.
Located in New Town, this hotel is steps away from Omni Centre Edinburgh, Princes Street and Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre. George Street and Royal Mile are also within 15 minutes. Edinburgh Waverley Station is 10 minutes by foot.
Pros: Walking distance to George St., Edinburgh Castle, etc - clean, newer rooms - friendly, helpful staff - nice patio and bar. Very good value for a very pleasant stay.

Pros: Got a good deal on Kayak. The internet is GREAT, which makes me happy because internet seems to be an ongoing drama all over Europe. Cons: It's very minimal and didn't get that feeling of home away from home as other hotels do.
Okay5.0
Pros: Location in the heart of Edinborough.
Cons: Booked 6 months prior to stay. Realized the next day, that I had booked a room for Saturday night, when I would be in Edinburgh only for Friday night. Was unable to switch nights even though it had been less than 12 hours from the time that the reservation was made, and the reservation was six months in the future. Had to reserve a second night. Rooms were clean with a modern open concept layout. Tried a bit too hard to be hip, no trash can in the room itself only a 1 gallon sized bin in the bathroom and no tub in the bath.
Excellent9.4
Pros: I chose this hotel because it was centrally located, easy to walk to from the train station, and a good price. It was exactly as advertised - no more, no less. If you are just looking for a place to lay your head at night while exploring Edinburgh, IBIS is a good choice. The staff were friendly and efficient, the room and bathroom was clean, and check-in/out was simple and direct. Overall I would stay here again.
Cons: In over 20 years of travel, every hotel except one has fallen short on pillows. Doesn't matter where, they are universally flat and usually require 3 or so to be good for me - I'm a side sleeper who likes fluffy firm pillows.
Located in Old Town, this hotel is within a 10-minute walk of Usher Hall, Grassmarket and Princes Street. Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle are also within 10 minutes. Edinburgh Haymarket Station is 12 minutes by foot and Edinburgh Waverley Station is 15 minutes.

Pros: Very spacious room with nicely appointed furniture. Beautiful view of the Castle from the room. Nicely located near Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle so close to popular tourist sites. Desk staff were extremely welcoming and helpful Really impressed by how pleasant everyone was. Breakfast was well done and reasonably priced.
Cons: Unfortunately, while the hotel is nicely situated for tourists, the neighborhood is a little sketchy. Lots of closed businesses, pole dancing school (?) and generally run-down.
Good7.3
Pros: Cleanliness, helpful staff
Cons: The window didn't close properly, allowing cold air in.

Pros: Clean, everything is new, good location, 24 hours reception desk, helpful staff.
Cons: The speed of the internet is limited intentionally and you can wait ages for a web page to load. The room for a single person is very small. No refrigerator. One of the breakfasts I ate didn't go well, if you understand what I mean.

Pros: Included breakfast was excellent with free hot beverage service too. The location cannot be beat, in the center of everything. Easy to rent a car, walk the royal mile, shop, eat, and see all the sights Edinburgh has to offer!
Good7.1
Pros: Wifi didn't work on my iPhone, only my iPad.
Cons: There is demolition of a building right behind my room. They start early in the morning. It wasn't pleasant at all.
Okay5.7
Pros: Location
Cons: The merchant's website is not elaborative if you open a mobile version. It didnt show to book for a child. I was fooled by the same as had to pay extra for my child. For some reason, they charged me the whole amount for bfast inclusive, but bfast deal wasn't showing. I travelled from India and had the worst experience as had to check out early.
Good7.7
Pros: Location, location, location. Within walking distance (<1 mile) of every place I needed to be or wanted to see on a mostly-business trip. Nice views from my 4th floor window facing Prince St. Bathroom was thoroughly up-to-date and very clean.
Cons: Mattress was soft and showing some age. Some street noise--a tradeoff for the view, and not intrusive with the window and curtains closed after 10 pm.

Pros: Great staff! Very attentive and helpful and so friendly! The facilities are clean and comfortable. It's about a 15 min walk to the castle and the royal mile.
Excellent8.2
Pros: Breakfast was great. No pool available but there was plenty of other ways to spend your time. The rooms were contemporary and chic. The staff were professional.! The bar was ‘funky’. The drinks were expensive - £9 for a glass of wine. You expect to pay over the odds on holiday - especially in a city. A great few days away.

Pros: The staff at the reception and in the bar were very friendly and informative and the hotel is in a great location.
Cons: Everything seemed tired and needed updating. The AC in the room was broken. There was no iron in the room, which is something I have never heard of in a 4* hotel. The bathroom door would open onto the toilet. There was no conditioner in the room. The towels felt and looked very well used & we encounter a very rude waitress while having breakfast on Sunday. Also, a man was assaulting a woman in the reception area and it took hotel guests to break it up before the staff did.
Excellent8.0
Pros: Location was excellent. Prices were reasonable
Cons: My room was small and stuffy. I'm not going to complain about lack of A/C as this was in Edinburgh, but my tiny room had no circulation and was warmer than the ambient temperature. I found it difficult to sleep at night until I requested and received a fan. Unfortunately, the first night after getting the fan some idiot set off the fire alarm at 0300 and I had to get up at 0500.
Excellent8.0
Pros: Location was great. Restaurant has a great breakfast buffet. Staff was accommodating. Pool and spa area was nice.
Cons: Thought the spa men's room can be tidied up and cleaned better.
Good7.4
Pros: Hilton are our Hotel Group of choice. I just thought this one to be overly expensive probably only justifying itself because of its proximity to the Old Town and the Royal Mile. The bedroom and bathroom were small and the rest of the hotel just felt like an apartment building. There was no real old-world warmth. As you would expect the staff were very friendly and helpful. My final gripe was that the parking was public and some distance away down a hill and some very steep steps. This,I concede however,is probably the case with most Edinburgh hotels.
Cons: The price and the lack of old-world charm.
Good7.7
Pros: Room very quiet. Lication to train station
Cons: Shower was dirty Bar staff over worked Desk lady was surley. Restaurant very expensive for quality of food
Excellent8.3
Pros: Excellent location right by Edinburgh Waverley and the Royal Mile. Staff were courteous and attentive. We booked a twin (I was staying with my brother), but the booking was registered as a double (through kayak/booking.com), but they sorted it quickly and efficiently.
Cons: Hotel rooms are quite warm and air con is ineffective.
Excellent10.0
Pros: Staff were lovely location great, no car park but you can park in train station car park with 20% off bit of a walk though. Close to royal mile and amenities
Cons: Only downside was always a queue to check in or out as only 2 at desk
Okay5.4
Pros: Good location
Cons: Bar prices changed depending on staff. Confusion at reception. Poor organisation regarding food, chief not supported by management

Pros: Great price. Perfect location to walk with luggage from the train station (less than 5 minute walk) and close to a bus stop (less than 10 minute walk) to the airport. Incredibly helpful staff. Clean rooms, well furnished. So pleased.
Excellent9.4
Pros: Right off the Royal Mile, this hotel couldn't be in a better place. Comfortable, clean rooms with great views. Funny British ways about electricity - you have to put a hotel key in to a special reader inside the room to turn on the electricity in the room. They really don't want you to leave the lights on when you're not there, I guess. Perfect spot for our stay.
Cons: We stayed in two different rooms. The second room had a bathroom that needed some work. It was clean, but some towel bars were showing rust, and the tile needed to be re-caulked.
Mediocre3.1
Pros: The reception area looks swanky but it’s a fur coat and no underwear. Good location for Old and New town
Cons: Room was a time machine from the 90’s Shower didn’t work because of ‘pressure issues’. The same ‘pressure issues’ also meant the the hot water failed to come out of the taps unless they were fully opened for at least five minutes and then it took a good 15 minutes to fill the shallow bath. The maintenance man said this was always an issue on the third floor particularly in the morning because everyone was using the water. Husband had to rescue something from under the sagging couch and wish he’d left it there - disgustingly filthy and left us feeling queasy that we’d been in the same room as that level of filth. Probably not been moved since the 90’s... Relative to other hotels it’s a cheaper option but not cheap enough - I’d have paid a bit more for a consistent hot water supply and a room that had been deep cleaned in the last decade.

Pros: I loved my room. I had paid extra for a quiet room on the business floor. My room was very quiet and looked at the building next door. I decided I wanted a view from the front and they kindly moved me to the ground floor. Their windows were double paned and even though there are lots of cars on the road, it was quiet as well as bright and even had a bathtub. Not all the rooms do. I didn't know Scotland used different plugs than Switzerland and Germany and they loaned me an adaptor. They also helped me with great directions and suggestions for things to do. The Urban Angel restaurant nearby is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to with artistically flavored local, organic food.
