Pros: Breakfast was excellent and lots of choice . everything was fresh and plentiful. Our host was very friendly and our room was very comfortable ,plus we also had a bath which we like to have that option. Our room was cleaned daily and nothing was to much trouble. We were visiting family in the area and we will have no hesitation to use Sunny Cottage in the future.
Cons: Nothing .

8.5 Excellent
Pros: This place is amazing! The house and rooms are beautiful and well maintained. The grounds are breathtaking. The food was excellent.
Cons: Maid service slammed doors while cleaning mid day while we were napping. The house is directly under a flight path which is loud at times. The boat tour was nice, but the captain could have been way more personable and informative for the price we paid.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Cliveden House. It is a beautiful place, extremely comfortable room and the setting is magical. The spa was outstanding and the food at the breakfast was delicious.
Cons: There was pitch black outside when we left the spa and there were no floor lights to guide you to the hotel. Also I really didn’t like the fact that you had cars parked on the driveway to the hotel from guests who were just visiting the National Trust Park. It felt less exclusive and less private and it would have been much better if the National Trust could find alternative parking spots.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Only one hour from London and you’re in paradise! River is flowing, everything green. Territory is very small but nice! For couple of days is perfect. We stayed in the most beautiful Wedgwood room, it was beautiful. A bit cold thought, I don’t like air-cons, so after turning it off room became 14-16 Celsius at night. But everything else is delightful, place have long history, you’ll see everything yourself :) I think I’ll come back and try other rooms as well)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel in a beautiful location. Very clean and well-equipped rooms. Delicious breakfast with high-quality ingredients and good service.
Cons: Room was a little on the small side for a luxury hotel. Shame that the spa was closed when we went in January.

Pros: We went fro the double deluxe as it was low season. View from room was opposite their cottage which is set back from the main road so it's peaceful. Hosts were super friendly inc their gorgeous 3 legged cat. Breakfast was plentiful with a view of the pool. Great locations for walking, village restaurants and Clivedon Hall and much cheaper train tickets to Taplow (rather than to Maidenhead) from London.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Large room and very quiet

5.0 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfortable, and it was great having a little garden for the the dogs
Cons: Well it does need a bit of upgrading to be fair, the sink in the bathroom had no drainer so you saw all the way down the pipe! The show could do with some Cilit bang on the tiles, lots of mould, the lights above the sink were not working, the towels smelt musty like they had been there for weeks ! There were cobwebs all over the lounge and bedroom but being an old barn you will obviously get this but it could have been cleaned better, the rug was dusty and smelly I know it was a pet friendly place but it didn’t have to smell and look like one, it’s a shame as the reviews I had looked at seem good ! So not sure if we got the old cottage that no one stays in !! It was a shame, as it’s a perfect location for when we work locally but it does need some love and care. When we arrived the key was in the door and they put some heating on in the bedroom but nothing in the lounge so it was very cold, it was just missing a bit of love and care sorry ! Then opening the curtains this morning after they had closed them last night, the net was hanging off! Please do some maintenance on this cottage it could be so lovely. Sorry for moaning but I host a self catering cottage and I would be appalled at letting mine get in this sad tired way
9.2 Excellent

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Cookham is a lovely Village
9.0 Excellent
Pros: rooms are cosy but good nights sleep. Spacious shower! Excellent breakfast buffet range.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Environment is very nice. Views of fields and plenty of other nature around. Rooms were comfortable.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the layout, the fish ponds the AMPLE parking and the very secure entrance to the rooms area. IT is a key thing when you're travelling alone to feel secure. I ate in the bar every night and the food was lovely. On the last night, the kitchen actually started cooking my meal before they were open as a favour, without me even asking. I was entirely prepared to wait. The grounds are quiet and peaceful, the gym is pretty good and the towels ... oh the TOWELS!
Cons: The room was lovely, my only complain was it could have been a bit more thoroughly cleaned. The footstool when I pulled it out from under the side table was layered in dust and the little miniatures holder in the bathroom was quite dusty too. I can't fault the overall cleanliness though, I am just fastidious!

Pros: Very nice 4star hotel, friendly and helpful staff, very good food including a really well cooked breakfast and a huge amount of self serve breakfast cereals, fruit and continental offerings. Extremely convenient for Taplow Court Buddhist centre. Great hotel, will definitely be back.
Cons: Nothing that makes it less than a 10 out of 10 review. A rather noisy party but only went on til midnight. And a snoring neighbour, but that’s hardly the hotelier’s responsibility.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The venue, the building and the staff were excellent. We ate in the restaurant and it was gorgeous food.
Cons: There was a work party in the room below ours which was very noisy. However, we only needed to mention this to staff and they could not have been more helpful. Their customer service was second to none
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly reception. A feeling of grandeur.
Cons: Room too hot. Air con unit didn’t seem to function. Had to wait an age for bar service in the afternoon and no chance of a nightcap despite arrive back before 23.00.

Pros: Very good location and food good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were greeted instantly on arrival very friendly staff. We loved the fact it was an old house in beautiful grounds. Rooms were big and roomy and Gois en-suite facilities. Very nice bar area and pretty dining room. Staff were very helpful and welcoming.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely big room, comfortable bed, nice bar area and fantastic breakfast. We was attending a family Christmas party in the function room at the hotel. We all had a great time and a lovely three course meal, lots of fun and dancing.
Cons: Everything was good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything...
5.0 Okay
Cons: The hotel was experiencing difficulties with the heating system causing each room to act as a greenhouse. When questioned on the problem, the hotel staff had advised they were already aware of the problem but did not feel they needed to share this information during check-in. I have tried to speak to a manager countless times regarding my experience, with no contact. Very disappointed in the whole experience.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Room was comfortable on the whole, location was good next to the motorway.
Cons: Bathroom — had to hold the shower as fixtures were broken. Breakfast — buffet options undercooked and frankly inedible. Emails — I have been automatically singed up for marketing emails from IHG group that I never wanted and cannot unsubscribe. They have been extremely unhelpful when contacting them about this.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully, quaint and charming.
Cons: There was a little mould above the shower in the bathroom, but it didn’t massively impact us.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location is lovely rural village location. The room was modern, nice decor and good shower. The room itself was clean and the staff friendly.
Cons: The rest of the decor was a little shabby. The room keys never worked for a full day, and with no night time reception we had to get the owner up. The safe was too difficult to work out so we abandoned it. There was no food being served when we arrived and no real alternatives given- they just said they had had a busy few days over Xmas. Food was very average although served by a lovely front of house lady. To be honest I could go on. As a guest the experience is very underwhelming and there are much better places in the locale!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful owner
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: Our room had no working safe. Overall across a two night stay we had to change rooms 4 times. Staff were average. We booked a table in their restaurant online only to find out it was closed on arrival. I would not class this hotel as luxury. It’s in desperate need of renovation.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was lovely and the staff were superb, we were always met with a smile and everyone was very helpful and accommodating. Our room was lovely with a bespoke (non-chain) feel and the location and surrounding area of the hotel was very picturesque
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendliness of staff
Cons: Room was a little on the small side

Cons: Bed was like sleeping on a mattress of bricks, window faulty and doesn’t close properly.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast buffet and great view of the river. Staff were super-friendly and there was some brilliant live music (Saturday night).
Cons: Nothing in particular
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were polite and friendly. Breakfast had a good variety of options.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Unless you want transport yourself back to heady days of 1970's style hotelmanship and the absolute lack of care that entailed in pre-history then avoid this carbunckle.............. the decor is a mixture of various shades of beige interspersed with light browns and a sprinkling of faded orange, the smells emanating from the carpets and unclean niches is reminiscent of old tramp's socks whilst the overall feel is oppressive and depressive. but its on the river.............
Cons: everything
7.0 Good
Pros: We had a nice view of the Thames from our cheaper room - the Thames Suite rooms would have a lovely view! The hotel was in the perfect location for a party we were attending, plenty of parking and great value.
Cons: The Thames Hotel is a bit jaded, but very good value for money.
The Olde Bell - Maidenhead - Building
13
7.5 Good (1,441 reviews)
S$ 154+
Overview Reviews
The Olde Bell is a modern coaching inn, set in historic timber framed buildings providing eating, drinking, gatherings and lodgings. Located only 45 minutes from central London, in East Berkshire, with great access to Henley on Thames, Maidenhead. Probably the best known building in Hurley, The Olde Bell first opened its doors in 1135 Ad, as a guest house for visitors to the nearby Benedictine Priory. For hundreds of years, the ringing of the Sanctus Bell signaled to the monks that an important visitor had arrived in the village and was on his way to call at their monastic retreat beside the River Thames. The Sanctus Bell still hangs over the door of The Olde Bell, a sign of welcome and refreshment to travellers. The Olde Bell was an important staging point on the Oxford to London route, with the last recorded schedule in 1890. During World War Two, famous guests at The Olde Bell included Sir Winston Churchill, Dwight D Eisenhower & Colonel Elliot Roosevelt, son of the war-time President, who were all visiting Ladye Place mansion, next to the church, which was being used as a secret U.S intelligence base. Also, during War times, Arms production was dispersed from the Midlands, to escape enemy bombings, and the Two barns were turned into a small arms factory, producing bullets, with a labour force of Hurley ladies. The olde bell has had many owners during its long history, but despite its many changes of ownership, it still keeps to the traditions of st. benedict, that true hospitality be provided to travellers and strangers.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing. A real break from the city for a very reasonable price,
Cons: Only reason we didn't score a 10 was there were a couple of mistakes on separate food orders. Just new/inexperienced staff. Not a big deal, just took the perfection edge off.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was basic but comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent and so was the breakfast.
Cons: We booked our table reservation on their app, but when we got to the restaurant they didn't have the booking. The app needs to be improved.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff welcome, lovely quiet location, fabulous room amenities, and charming place overall. Free parking in secure location. Handy from Henley and Marlow.
Cons: Very happy with everything about our stay and will be back.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Food good and comfy bed but no marmalade at breakfast
Cons: Poor service generally, we attended a wedding and the turnaround time from the service in the tythe barn to going in to reception was far too long, guests waited in a holding area for an hour with only one drink. Had to wait too long for a lunch order prior to wedding so had to cancel the order so no lunch.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Burger in the bar was great. Staff friendly and efficient. Amazing historic building, lovely garden. Breakfast good. Good room. Parking. Bottled water in room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant hotel with the best restaurant and bar. Wonderful comfortable rooms with all the facilities you would expect.
Cons: Don't book a taxi from the reception from here, they never arrive. Use Uber
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Could not fault the food or the room - a luxury double , at The Olde Bell both excellent. Also the staff were really helpful and friendly.
Cons: The bar area is quite depressing due to the black paint. It could have been helped by the open fire being lit ,but really needs repainting. The high back chair booths also makes the bar unwelcoming and doesn’t make best use of the second fireplace. It could be really cosy with minimal effort - i e normal tables and chairs and repainting the black section.
The Black Boys Inn - Maidenhead - Bedroom
14
7.4 Good (273 reviews)
S$ 191+
Overview Reviews
Situated on the outskirts of Henley-on-Thames overlooking the beautiful Chiltern Valley, with the River Thames just at the bottom of the lane, the Black Boys Inn is a stylish and relaxing bed and breakfast. With origins, in part, dating back to the 16th Century, the Inn is full of atmosphere and charm. Oak beams, nooks, crannies and a wood burning stove welcome guests and act as a reminder of the Inn's heritage, while the modern facilities and contemporary country feel provide a luxurious haven for guests.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The staff were lovely and friendly and helpful.
Cons: The room could of been cleaner, empty water bottle of previous guests, someone’s contact lense left on bed side table and bath was quite dirty, also chef was on holiday so no evening meals were available and the bar closed at 8pm on the Friday night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had our own entrance as the rooms are separate from the pub and open up to lovely countryside views. We also totally overslept checkout and the staff didn't mind a bit. Big bathroom with a bath, good shower, comfy bed, nicely decorated.
Cons: A couple of tiny things - the mugs we espresso sized - not great to brew a tea, there was no full length mirror which was only a problem as I was getting ready for a wedding in a saree, and the curtain didn't give much protection from the passing walkers.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The room is a good size and the bed comfortable enough.
Cons: The room and bathroom were both very dirty. We complained to the staff who asked us to accept a complimentary drink in the bar while they cleaned it. Maybe five minutes later they told us the bathroom had been cleaned but it was clear that all they’d done was mop the bathroom floor. My husband used one of the hand towels in the bathroom to wipe down the surfaces (window sills, bedside tables, pictures and dado rail etc). It was filthy when he’d finished. The rug in the bedroom is very worn and a potential trip hazard to an unsteady person. One window has no curtains so we were woken up by sunlight at the crack of dawn. The decor is ‘tired’ and shower in desperate need of regrouting to dispose of black mould. Struggling to understand the AA four star rating and have to assume it applies solely to the restaurant. We chose not to stay for breakfast. We booked this accommodation in order to attend an event nearby. Thankfully we were there only to sleep.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing. £300 and two days of our lives wasted . Probably have a case with trading standards!!
Cons: The whole place was filthy but especially the bathroom. Caked on soap residue, hair, old hair clips, old soap etc. The toilet looked like the inside of my grannies tea pot as it hadn't been cleaned for months (we do have photos) Couldn't complain to management as there were none present. No food available as there wasn't a chef! On the second night we were asked to leave the bar at 9pm as the barman wanted to go home!! Leaving the place deserted apart from the guests sat in their rooms. Advertised as a restaurant with room! Disgusting!!
5.0 Okay
Pros: The breakfast
Cons: The room: cleanliness was poor, ripped sheets, stained pillows, filth under the bed and in the bathroom, toothbrush pot was very dirty, cobwebs and mould in the shower. Locked out of the building on our first night as we were given the incorrect keys and had to find a room outside to stay in without our belongings (which were inside the main building). To be fair, the proprietor did refund one night, but moving forward, there is an awful lot that needs improving, especially cleanliness.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very nice, clean and comfortable rooms. The staff were very friendly. Lovely pub and beer garden to enjoy.
Cons: Unfortunately the restaurant was closed only serving breakfast so we didn’t have an option for lunch/dinner on arrival.
4.2 Okay
Pros: We enjoyed the music being played in the bar through the day and the staff were friendly.
Cons: The bathroom had spiders and didn’t feel clean, it had been refurbed but not to a great standard. The room to the door led straight into the beer garden so didn’t feel very private.
7.5 Good
Pros: Fab breakfast and made to feel welcome and lovely location if you enjoy a stroll or more energetic walks.
Cons: No dislikes.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Travelling for work, nice comfy room and bed, good shower, nice restaurant and bar and staff were really friendly, and if you get the window seat nice view of the river, easy parking too.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was lovely and we enjoyed the views. It was great to have a kettle and iron. Parking was very good. Lots of storage was useful too.
Cons: Hotel was quite noisy at night. Whatever/whoever was above us seemed to be very active in between 1am and 4am!! Also the hotel only provides whole milk in the room which isn't to most people's liking. Skimmed or semi skimmed would have made for a nicer cup of tea in the morning.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location, near the river. Decent room, on the small size, but clean and nice suite bathroom. No trouble to check in and check out. I had place to park my car. For a only one night it was good enough.
Cons: The corridors have a smell, it is an old building. The bed mattress somewhat wobbly. The breakfast omelette was surely from the day before if not even older. I didn't eat half of it. Next time I will ask for fried eggs.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Large spacious room with a balcony. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of wardrobe space and good power to the shower
Cons: Everything was good
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff were lovely. Location on the river is nice.
Cons: The property was old and tired. In desperate need of an upgrade and tidy. Rooms were very dated and communal areas very worn
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: All so disappointing. Room horrible. Mould on Windows, mattress awful, bathroom filthy. Couldn't shower as tap filthy and rusty. Tea had white scum ontop... List goes on
Cons: Everything

4.0 Okay
Pros: The room was clean.
Cons: - The place was really tired and dated. - The heating was on ridiculously high in the common areas - the heat was unbareable - There was no shower pressure - someone came to the room to fix it but it was still poor
7.0 Good
Pros: Very disappointed with the continental breakfast. Poor self tion of fruit & no option other than toast for coeliac diners. I only had continental breakfast on both mornings but we were charged for two English
Cons: See above
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Food was very good, however choices rather limited.
Cons: Gym is extremely small and the equipment was not working. Spa facilities not available before 8am, pool in the spa is too cold. Only 1 shower worked at the spa, no staff around in the evening to hand out towels. Tap in room's bathroom constantly dripping. Room is cold, an electric heater was placed in there to keep room heated. We chose thus hotel as we believed it had good spa / gym facilities, but we were extremely dissapointed. We were presented with the same menu for two nights in a row without very limited choices, main course two different red meat meals, one fish dish and two vegetarian dishes.
