Pros: Rooms are beautiful. Vanity makeup area to get ready in, and spacious shower. Bed was extremely comfortable, almost the same as my bed from home. Staff had superb customer service skills and went above and beyond to make our stay easier. Rooftop sun deck gives amazing views down the coast from a jacuzzi! Would definitely come back again.

Pros: This place is amazing. Although ostensibly it doesn't look over the top, it is a quietly classy place. Our receptionist, Tiana, helped us throughout our stay and she is the sweetest and most accommodating representative (although everyone we met just went over the top, from the concierge to the bellhops to Ryan the cars concierge). The rooms are huge. They easily fit all of the stuff for our 8 month old with tons of room to spare. His packnplay was no issue at all. Everything is very clean and it was quiet and relaxing. We ordered room service , and it was pricey as expected, but the food was DELICIOUS! I doubt we would have found better food elsewhere - the crab cake Eggs Benny was delicious! We checked out and had our car brought around (valet parking is surprisingly included in the resort fee) and Ryan, our car concierge , told us if sightseeing (we were headed to the aquarium), to feel free to leave the car there, no problem, till 5. That was really nice and we did not have to worry about parking. Overall this is right on the end of cannery row and is apparently about a 10 minute walk from Fisherman's Wharf as well (we didn't have a chance to get down there). You can't beat the location, the customer service, or the amenities here. We would only stay here when coming back. Thank you!!

Pros: Very clean & well appointed. Nice live evening music. Convenient peet's coffee on premises. Nice outdoor firepit and beautiful "plaza area" / patio for all to use....very open-air views of the bay.
Cons: Spa facilities did not accomodate the numbers of people using, it very well. Overall,hotel was a bit over the top for our needs, and I hate always having to figure out tips without feeling like a cheapskate, but I guess that's just part of "high livin". On the whole ,staff was extremely understanding & accommodating of a few problems that arose and were more than fair in resolving them.

Not exactly what you would expect for a five star hotel. Although the rooms were clean, they were meh at best. Definitely nothing special. There was an nespresso coffee machine in the room which was nice but all they had were paper cups. I travel a lot for work so I have a lot to compare to and I think the only value that this hotel had was that it was conveniently located. The value vs. cost wasn’t there for me.

Pros: You can't beat the location- just a block away from the Monterrey Bay Aquarium and right on Cannery Row. Staff was all very nice and the facilities were top notch.

Cons: The rooms have a joint door and you can clearly hear the noise from the next room. In our case there was a baby crying the whole night and we couldn't sleep. On calling the helpdesk, the Manager offered us free breakfast. It was a good gesture to offer b/fast but the hotel should seriously think on the noise issue due to joining room doors. That design doesn't work. Also the swimming pool is very small and just for namesake.

Pros: This was a great location within walking distance of phenomenal dining and wine tasting rooms. Room was exceptional, the service excellent and the spa personnel accommodating. First deep tissue massage I ever tapped out for a slightly lesser pressure. We will return over and over again. You have to stay here when in Monterrey!

Pros: Lovely location right in the heart of Cannery Row and on the waterfront. This is not an inexpensive hotel but let's face it this is an InterContinental brand not a Motel 6. If you want to splurge this is a good choice however if you don't need a waterfront view and stay in the connected bldg. across the street you can get a room with a fireplace for less. I found this hotel to be relaxing and the staff helpful. Even without a waterfront room they have a large deck area looking out into Monterey Bay where you can sit in front of a fire pit with your friends or by yourself and sip your favorite beverage and enjoy the view and some down time from busy Cannery Row.

Pros: You would think that a place this convenient on Cannery Row would skimp on the amenities but it does not. The rooms are incredibly spacious and lovely. The beds are incredibly comfortable, although the pillows are a tad too soft. The windows open - a rarity now days - letting in the sea breeze. And it's steps away from the Aquarium and plenty of shops / restaurants.

Instead I hear cars and foot traffic because our room is all the way back and faces the garage. This hotel was almost three times the cost of any equivalent hotel if it wasn't next to the waves I didn't get to hear.

Pros: Staff was fantastic- just very accomodating, friendly and really made an effort to make the stay enjoyable. Can't say enough about the staff. I was sitting reading on their pretty outdoor patio and they offered me a glass of wine, even though the bar wouldn't be open for another few hours. Room was really great- spacious, updated fixtures and hardware (felt like a swanky room), and without any ambient noise at all. Plush soft towels, comfortable bedding- the whole experience just made us both feel like "ok, we're staying at a NICE hotel." We were on the second floor facing the street and really didn't get any street noise at all either. If we're ever back in the area, we will definitely stay here again.

The safe in our room would not open and my things were in it. The hotel staff could not fix it although the maintenance guy was able to get it open. The manager gave us a voucher for the restaurant which was appreciated.

Cons: Room is too crowded with stuff. Lack of space for luggage and yourself. We were on first floor where they recommend locking windows plus people could see in. Two small windows on the parking/alley side did not provide enough air considering there was no A/C. Also very noisy in the morning on that side. Add to that was the fact the screens were ripped. TV had a cheap, crappy remote. The location is only okay. Price too high for the product.

Pros: I was looking for the best hotel for the most reasonable price that accepted dogs. This was the one that I found using Hotels.com and Yelp and other resources. They honored my reservation made late last year and I was able to bring my dog. That was really great. The rooms were very nice, very clean. It was an excellent value for the money. Some people complained about the noise but I did not notice any problems with that. Staff was very nice and allowed me to keep my trailer parked in the lot while my boat was on the water. That allowed me flexibility during my visit.
Cons: The front parking lot was very tight and very full. The back lot was not accessible due to construction but I assume that would free help once construction ceased. They no longer accept dogs. I would go back again if they allowed dogs still. In fact, it would be the only place I would go while staying there. The fridge is a little small but many food options were nearby so storing food is not really highly necessary.

Pros: This is a great place. The rooms are well appointed and ours was convenient facing the pool. The condition of the room was great and overall the facilities were well kept up and in accordance with the upscale feeling of the place. The pool was great, clean and comfortable. The location of the facility is central to Monteray and pleasantly away from the tourist trappings of the wharf and Cannery Row. A very convenient bike trail connects Monteray and Pacific Grove and is the best way to see the sites. We definitely recommend this lodging and will look for it upon each visit.
Cons: The rooms propagate sound more than desirable. This may be due to ours being able to be shared with one next door. Otherwise no complaints!

Pros: I loved the look and feel of Casa Munras. Once we drove off the street, it felt like we were in a very private resort. The staff was very friendly and courteous, and we really liked using the Esteban Restaurant for some of our meals. We especially enjoyed the Happy Hour! The food was delicious, and the wait staff was very pleasant. We also took advantage of the spa while we were there, as they were running a very good massage/facial special. We probably had one of the best massages we have ever had and did not feel rushed or like one in a long line of customers that we have felt at other spas. The outdoor hot tub was a lovely, relaxing way to end our spa services. My daughter and I came to relax for a couple of days, and that is exactly what we were able to do here! We look forward to returning!

Cons: No soap or shampoo in the room when I went to get in the shower the first evening. It was in the room the second day. The motel charged my credit card on Thursday, PRIOR to arrival on Friday. When I checked in, I was charged for both Friday and Saturday (we stayed two nights) so I was charged for three nights instead of two. On Saturday morning when I discovered what had happened, I called the hotel to asked why. Instead of an apology for an error, I was told that this was their standard business practice and the double charged night should be credited back to my account in 3 to 5 days depending on my bank. This is not a practice that I have run into before but think that in a place like Monterey where the vast majority of guests are tourists, this is a good way to increase profits. You collect the extra nights fees and collect the interest on the money until you have to give it back.

It almost felt like a tiny home during our 4 night stay. We also loved how close it was to the downtown area and lots of good restaurants. Only 1 mile from the aquarium, we walked there and back. overall had a wonderful time at this hotel, we even stayed an extra night.

Pros: We loved the location, we took advantage of the hotel 2 day aquarium tickets. The location is really close to a lot of things (~8 minutes from aquarium ~5 min. to Dennis the Menace park -it was closed for construction while we were there but its very close) The rooms were cleaned well daily we have 3 children (5,3 and 7 mo.) so that was good. There isn't a LOT of parking but enough, we only couldn't park in front of our room once (there is an annex lot where the ocean view rooms are located across the street... not ideal but really not bad). All in all we stayed a few extra days because the price was right, the location was great and the rooms were clean. I would go back again.

The Inn is located a few blocks from the ocean and is a short drive to restaurants and shopping. The continental breakfast was well stocked in the morning and had a good variety of food, coffee and drinks. I would stay here again when in the area.

Cons: What I dislike: This really is not about dislike it’s more about the comparison of value based on price. Hilton Garden Inn Monterey (“HGIM”), is expensive and maybe too expensive for what you really get. I travel a lot for work and with my family. And basically I would compare the HGIM with high-end Hotels in the Napa Valley and Santa Barbara. One: I would say if you pay upwards over 250 a night, a water bottle (just one) in your room would be really nice, the breakfast buffet was really good but again if you’re paying $$$ it would be nice if it was included and it would probably create more buzz for the property. The bar was fine but seriously it’s just a bar. The other thing is and this is not exclusive to the HGIM, a lot of hotels have this issue the doors for each room when they close are so loud that if you’re trying to take a nap or just concentrate on work it’s very difficult. I found myself hanging out in the lobby to do work. The room itself was not bad two queen beds they were very comfortable, the mini-fridge was loud, the TV was fine, the bathroom, was poorly designed the door scarcely had a enough room to open without hitting the toilet the detail work in the bathroom was not done well and the wardrobe it’s a wardrobe. I know I’m being critical in this statement but it’s because I hold the Hilton brand at a high value, because it asks for a high value for the dollars you pay.

Once in our room, we found that the toilet was broken; water ran all night, even after maintenance "fixed" the issue at 11pm. The shower was broken. So no baths for us! We informed the desk and they offered to let us shower in another room the next morning - hardly a reasonable accommodation. There was a loud reunion going on at the bar and another on the second floor - both lasted well into the early morning (2am!). The late night desk clerk was rude and completely unapologetic. It was by far the worst Hilton experience ever.

Pros: When we first got there the view was stunning. The beach was right there and there were public access points to it, making access to the beach easy. Our room was an ocean view. It had a great feature for windows where there was an automatic screen that could go over it for privacy. The staff were friendly and the room as a whole was very clean and comfy. The place felt like luxury and we thought it would be a lot more for the price. Would definitely recommended it.

Pros: The best features of this hotel are the location and the history of the hotel. We enjoyed the bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The continental breakfast was good.
Cons: The furniture, while antique and ornate, was large and bulky in the small rooms. It is not a comfortable place to stay, with little space to maneuver around. The television (which was nearly as old as the room itself) was hidden in a wardrobe that couldn't open all the way because of the california king bed. Therefore, only one person laying in bed could actually see the screen. There was no desk or workspace in the room. The hotel acknowledges the paper thin walls and provides guests with earplugs to block out noise from other guests and the streets below. The overall experience at the Monterey Hotel was fine, but I only recommend it because of the location.

Pros: The staff was wonderful- friendly and helpful and smiling. The bellhops offered to help with bags, but I stubbornly wanted to take care of myself. Continental breakfast had many choices. Each room is unique and shaped differently; I would have loved to see each one.

Pros: The hotel had an excellent location only a short walk from Monterey Bay and the wharf. Although a bit shabby, the hotel has a charming feel. The staff was helpful and friendly.
Cons: Both the room and bathroom were uncomfortably small. Other than the bed, there was only one small uncomfortable wooden chair to sit on. No microwave or refrigerator was provided. The worst problem was the noise, both day and night, which made it impossible to get a good night's sleep. Between the trash trucks, the squawking sea gulls, the late night party goers, and street construction peace was not to be had. And, because the room was not air conditioned, the windows could not be closed.

Pros: As soon as we got there the staff was super friendly. As we were checking in, the woman at the front desk automatically offered us a complimentary upgrade. The room was phenomenal. Most amazing views in the bedroom, bathroom and living area. Cutely decorated. Most definitely will be staying here again!

Pros: The staff were SO amazing! They were helpful and kind and their customer service was just so outstanding! The lobby was very pretty and the spa and other facilities were absolutely perfect! The locationn was nice; five minutes from he wharf and downtown. I’ve never been that close before so it was nice.
Cons: The fan on the ceiling so loud I couldn’t sleep and too hot to turn off. The room smelled very bad and nothing helped. It was very very small for the price. The bed was incredibly hard. The socket in the bathroom didn’t work so I had to find an alternate one and all the others were awkwardly placed so it was hard to get ready in the morning. I was beside the stairs and I listened to loud noisy people run up and down them all night, especially children. My phone didn’t work the first night either. The loud fan also only had two setting apparently even th it clearly had more but only low and high worked. High nearly had it flying off the ceiling and low did nothing. It was very hot in the room; they even put a fan in the hallway on the second floor. I’ve stayed at cheaper hotels with larger rooms and more comfortable beds; the price, I think, is due to location.

Pros: Absolutely charming historic hotel located in the heart of downtown Monterey! 5 minute drive to the aquarium and a five minute walk to the beach and Fisherman's Wharf. Stayed two nights with our young family with 3 kids, and they loved every bit down to how they folded the napkins and toilet paper prior to our stay. Breakfast was overflowing with ripe strawberries and Boyd's coffee, and the staff dug up a corkscrew to keep and some wine glasses so we could enjoy our bottle from wine country. All in all, wish we could have stayed longer, and very pleased with its prime location and roaring 20's charm.
Cons: Parking was slightly challenging but we were always able to find some spots on the street.

Pros: We stayed at The Monterey Hotel while visiting our son and his girlfriend. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel is located central in Old Monterey. The hotel is old so don't expect a lot of modern touches but also be prepared for some beautiful architectural details from the early 1900s! Our room was very small but comfy. We felt more like we were in a guest room at someone's home than in a hotel but that's not a bad thing! The windows and walls are not soundproof so if you're a light sleeper do like we did and request a room in the quiet part of the hotel. But be warned, this may be in the back of the hotel so you may need eye shades as the security light in the back of the hotel is quite bright! Also be warned that there is no working elevator so if you have mobility issues (cannot walk up multiple flights of stairs) you might want to talk with the staff to see if they can accommodate your special needs before booking. I have a bad knee and did just fine staying on the third floor as long as I didn't have to go up and down more than three times a day.
Cons: The only drawback to this hotel is there is no onsite parking. This isn't too bad as there is a loading -unloading area right in front of the hotel. The best secure parkng is in the public parking structure a few streets away. The price is $7 a day but there is no in and out privileges. But when the hotel is right on the main drag you don't really need your car too much! If you want to park on the cheap then you can find curbside parking for free after 6pm but these spots are hard to come by. You just need to move your car before 9am the next day.

Pros: The friendliness of the staff, the ambience and furnishings, the location, the value, the courteous attitude...I could go on! I eavesdropped on a fantastic history "lesson" given by the front desk attendant. Although I grew up in Monterey, I learned many things I didn't know. Don't be afraid to ask questions. The staff genuinely loves Monterey and it shows!
Cons: Not much to dislike! Soon to be ADA compliant with the addition of a functioning elevator=even better. In the meantime, if the stairs are overwhelming with baggage, tip the bellman and make his/her day with appreciation of how often they climb these historic staircases. Such a grand building! I'll be back!

Pros: Not much. The day clerk was receptive and responsive to my complaints so hopefully they fix some of these things.
Cons: There were not enough towels or wash cloths for the number of people the room can sleep. When we asked for more, we were given a small rough towel and two hand towels. We did check in late as we were on a road trip but that’s no excuse for the clerk to not have access to bath towels. The guest Laundry was closed when we arrived and didn’t open the next day until 9 am. Again we were on a road trip with four people and really needed to do some laundry but had to leave prior to the guest Laundry opening. It should be left open 24 hours with guest access only. The hotel has no air conditioning but has a huge glass sliding door that wouldn’t slide so we were hot all night. No fitted sheets on the bed and the flat sheets would not stay tucked under so we ended up sleeping on bare maytress in the middle of the night. Really gross.

Pros: Got a good deal on Kayak (through Priceline), and the hotel is good for the money we paid. It's close enough to everything else in Monterey (by car). It was pretty quiet, not noisy at all like some reviews said. If you're just looking for a place to crash for the night, this hotel will fit the bill. Do not look for anything beyond that though.
Cons: The entire facility is pretty dated. Rooms are very old, and there's not enough lighting inside the room.

Cons: For those of us who require a service dog or have pets this motel has a specific area where they put you. I've stayed in this motel in the past and had complained about the nasty carpet. This time around was worse than before. I stayed in room 149 as soon as I walked in and over whelming stench of dog urine. I don't understand how this is acceptable. It was so strong how can housekeeping overlook this and clean the room and report it as "ready." This carpet really needed a shampooing if not ripped out. JUST BECAUSE WE HAVE AN ANIMAL WITH US DOESNT MEAN WE RE OK WITH THIS. I went down the street to the market to purchase deodorizers. I pulled a bed sheet and layed it down so that my dog and I could walk around. Please upkeep cleanliness in these rooms!! You may want to rip out the carpet and use laminate flooring in these rooms.

Cons: So first of I gotta say I hate giving reviews or surveys, so if I do it's because I was left with an impression...and I'm sad to say this was not a good one...I advise for you to spend a little bit more money for a better hotel. The place is near the fwy which could be convenient, but walking in you know probably not the best place...the room doors alone look like prison cells, you walk into the room and it smells horrible, our sheets were stained and looked nasty...the heater didn't work...even though I called and was promised someone would come look at it...but never showed up...the toilet made a horrible noise. If ur sensitive to sound not a good place to stay as you can hear the airplanes at every hour. The breakfast was sad...and they honestly shouldn't even advertise it. It looked dirty.

She helped the other clerk in minor talk twice, she realy butted in. Having taken a behavioral at the FBI Academy, she gave a false front. with a demeaning attitude. I parked in the handicap zone and carried two suitcases, three medium size carry on bags. I had to carry my luggage up stairs (no elevator) which I maneuvered up two and down one set of stairs. I lost control of my luggage as I entered, an exited the hotel. I had to rest awhile before I started to drive. The bed needed to be replaced a few years ago. I'm really disappointed
