Pros: The food here is amazing. All the food in old town was amazing as well. We ate at the pool two days and it was gormet delishious! We also ate breakfast in the resturant down stairs and it was also fantastic. Pricey but very good.

Cons: At one point my 9 year old cut his toe at the pool and when I asked for bandaid and first aid, instead of bringing it to me, I was told to go up to the hotel and ask for it - a good 5 min walk. Leaving my 9 year old bleeding - instructing him to hold pressure as the nail was avulsed, and instructing him to watch the 4 year old to not go near the pool since I had to leave them unattended. Any other 5 star resort would have immediately had me stay with the child as they either sent for someone or radio to someone to bring supplies. Ofcourse this probably just had to do with the very young staff that I spoke with. But, all staff should be appropriately trained at resorts such as this one.

Pros: The wonderful friendly staff made this resort really stand out! Grandpa Frank in the Prado was the best. What nice people and a beautiful resort. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. We stayed three days and I didn't want to leave!

Pros: The views of Camelback mountain were incredible. The staff were the most friendly and helpful staff I have ever come in contact with. I especially enjoyed the walk out patios on the first floor. The layout of the bathroom in the our room was so large and luxurious. I highly would recommend The Montelucia to anyone visiting Paradise Valley.

We wanted to have a relaxing weekend and that's what we had. Can't stress enough how the staff does any amazing job of making sure you are well taken care of.

Pros: I don't usually right reviews, but I felt compelled to recommend our experience. We were in awe of the hotel from the moment we arrived. Marissa and Michael at the front desk were professional, engaged and most important they were personal. Hotel grounds are reminiscent of Tuscany with lots of stone and massive wooden gates/entryway. The room exceeded our expectation of cleanliness and style. The onsite restaurant was also delicious. We decided to stay after my wife shot a wedding on sight and vowed to be back. We will return in the near future.

Pros: Normally I dread the term "boutique," which usually signals small, cramped spaces with questionable decor. This was not the case with FoundRe. The rooms were spacious and very stylishly appointed, with wonderful design aesthetic. The staff were courteous and helpful and the adjoining restaurant was excellent as well.

Pros: Went for my birthday overnight and the staff could not have made it more special for me. Starting at checking in, when we were upgraded to a room other with a king size bed and amazing view. They went above and beyond- we came back to the room to champagne, a handwritten birthday note, and cake! Then the pool concierge and staff (Nicholas, tabitha, yanna (sp?) and Camille all made us feel SO welcome and taken care of. They brought out a birthday dessert as well, while we were lounging by the pool. They comped a couple things and really made us feel celebrated and welcomed. It was a FANTASTIC customer service experience- which is rare to find these days!

Pros: This hotel is Nice and clean. The interior design is modern. The location is perfect if you want to take a stroll around downtown. From the front entrance, you can see the US Airways stadium, the Chase stadium or arena (sorry, not a sports fan) and just a few minutes walk away. Also it about a five to ten minutes walk to Heritage Square. One minus is the room we stayed in had only one chair and a long sofa for seating. Having just one chair made it tough for two of us to enjoy food or coffee in our room. I recommend friends to stay there, but because it's downtown, don't be surprised about how expensive parking can be, $23/night.

Cons: Our room's thermostat was not working right. Our room at the lowest temperature was freezing but at any higher temperature our room would be way too hot. There was no door on the shower which caused water from the shower to get on the bathroom floor, making it slick and a fall hazard. Our bed had no sheet, just the comforter and a small throw blanket. We had to request a sheet and add it to the bed ourselves. We had a very difficult time getting comfortable enough to sleep.

Pros: The hotel is staffed by professionals who know how to deal with the public. Every detail is taken care of. Our room safe needed to be replaced, and, (due to our inconvenience) we were given a bottle of wine. (Not necessary, but a nice gesture.) Mixed emotions here. The room was great! Spacious, clean, comfortable. The staff was very good, especially front desk. They were friendly and seemed eager to ensure I had an enjoyable stay. My one issue (and the reason for less than stellar scores in some areas) is the restaurant facility. Taking into consideration that the pandemic finds most places short staffed (which they were), the entire food operation is massively screwed up. First, the menus. There are THREE: dine in, carry out, AND room service (though as far as I could tell, they actually don't have room service right now, which isn't surprising, or a big deal.). But to make things even stranger, the room service and carry out menus are different. Don't understand this. Both menus are quite limited to begin with...why have TWO? To add another level of weirdness, you can't call in a carry out order...you have to go down to the restaurant to place your order in person. And then you have to order at the bar, which took forever on a Saturday night (short staffed, date night, etc.) When I finally placed my order, the harried server said I needed to wait close by so they could easily find me when my order was ready. Which meant I couldn't sit down anywhere in the lounge area because of the crowd, and was forced to stand around near the bar counter. Then it took 25 minutes for my Caesar salad with shrimp to come out. After I finally got back to my room and opened the container, I discovered that the salad had no dressing on it whatsoever. My only "special request" was for them to leave off the anchovies...Someone in the Westin's management needs to figure this out!

Pros: The hotel was really comfortable and really was luxurious. But how can hotel, especially one of this stature not have free WiFi? Makes absolutely no sense! Also no hot tub or bath tub, so forget the idea of a soothing soak. You also have to pay $32 a night for parking. Or you can park across the street for $15/day, but if you leave and come back, you have to pay another $15. So don’t plan on leaving once you get there. However there is a light rail across the street if you need to travel somewhere. There is also no included breakfast. Other than those things, the hotel was really nice. I probably won’t stay again because I really love to be able to stay in a hotel with a hotub.

Cons: Booked the hotel and tried to cancel a couple hours later. Priceline spoke with the front desk manager and they refused to allow me to cancel. I understand it's in your fine print but it's just bad business practice to take someone's money when the reservation was JUST made. It's not like it was booked for months and the room was not given to someone else because of my reservation. I am the CEO of a moderately sized company and travel to Phoenix 5-10 times a year and send hundreds of clients to Phoenix. I will make sure no one stays here. Good thing you kept my $500.

Rooms were extremely clean and comfortable and the style is wonderful. Close to everything in downtown including the light rail, bars/restaurants, sports arenas, and nightlife.
Cons: As it is a historic property only valet parking available which may inconvenience some but wasn't a deterrent for me. Room service limited to a few hours daily.

Pros: Stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms. When I got off the elevator to go to my room, I stepped on the thickest, plushest carpet ever. Room was spotless. Lots of outlets on the desk so I was able to keep all my devices charged. All of the staff I encountered were pleasant and helpful. Even the valet, when my car was brought around, washed my windshield before I started out for home. Extremely easy to get back to I-10. The breakfast buffet was wonderful - including lots of fresh fruit and again. Walking distance to Chase Field as well as lots of bars and restaurants.

Cons: The waterpark was supposed to open on February 18th per the website and a phone call to the hotel - so we booked from February 20th to 24th. What they failed to inform us was that the Waterpark was only open the weekend before and the weekend afterwards. When we arrived on the Monday the person who greeted us and showed us to our room talked about the Waterpark being great and only later did we find out it was closed. Pros: The amount of space for the King bedroom suites was very accommodating. There are two separate rooms, a living room area with a pull out bed is great to use if you have additional folks with you or children, and a separate bedroom in case you want more privacy. The staff were very knowledgeable and responsive. I didn't need much assistance, but for the few questions or needs I had, they were quick to aid me. The resort is kept up well. It has stayed up-to-date since my last stay there 20 years ago. I'm happy to see it has been kept in good condition. I went to the spa and the masseuse was incredibly experienced and did an exceptional job. I would highly recommend the spa.
Cons: There are a few small areas that the resort could improve on: -I noticed it was very difficult reaching hotel staff by phone. I tried every single line (ie Guest Request, Room Service, Front Desk..) just to try to reach someone. This happened to me about 5-6 times within my first 36 hours. They could work on beefing up availability of folks to answer phones. -The spa was fantastic, and one of the showers was very dark, and had one ceiling light which was not in the shower. This made the room dark after pulling the shower curtain. It didn't do justice to the overall appearance to the spa. -Also I would recommend the spa supplying a few creature comforts in the locker room, such as disposable combs for people to use after showers.

So what was the counter put my toothpaste, make up, hairbrushes and such on while i got ready? A toilet seat. Yup. No counter in the bathroom. It had the charm of an old place with the type of tile but so much of the tile was chipped and the paint peeling away from the walls it just felt old and dirty and run down. The drain in the shower didn't work well and I was standing in several inches of water while I showered. No room to room AC so you were at the mercy of how cool the people at the hotel wanted to keep the place. In AZ its 100+ all the time. I bet our room at night was 77 degrees or more. We were sweating and it made sleeping tough. We probably will opt for a more modern place just for the AC and clean feel next time and be willing to pay a higher price for it.

Cons: I last stayed at the San Carlos about seven years ago. My how things change. I remember the hotel having character, being older and all, but now that has slipped from "character" to "run down." Everything looked slightly dingey. The walls are much thinner than I remember so everything was audible. The second floor is now the Luke Air Force Base floor, which is fine, but it looks like the decorations belong in a third-grade classroom on Luke base housing. For the amount of money that we paid there should be more amenities. Instead it looks like they are going for minimum service with maximum profit. The hotel needs a serious overhaul.

Pros: It was fine. Cool to see some of the history, but it’s like they forgot to evolve it to the 21st century. The shower only pumped hot water every 30 seconds, and even then it was scalding before it reverted to luke warm. It was mostly clean, but not spotless. The rooms were fine, but tiny and a weird layout. Was tough to maneuver luggage around. Nice pool. No hot tub. No bar or room service. People were very friendly.

Pros: The Hotel San Carlos is a fascinating gem out of the 1920s. Great for the history buff, someone willing to try something unique for a lifetime memory. The staff was considerate, always helpful, and very friendly. I had no complaints. Would stay there again. (Plus, the bath towels have to be the largest ever made...the size of beach towels!)
Cons: Thankful there were lots of close restaurants. The Vietnamese restaurant was outstanding. Realize that costs and parameters limit what can be done for historic landmarks, but carpeting needs updating, wall art (movie star pictures, etc.) could be updated. And...would be great to receive a handout of all the special floor 'tourist points' or history. Ended up going floor to floor to read everything and see everything.

Pros: The bar was good. Bartenders were really nice and made good drinks. The snacks were a plus but I didn't like having to bother the staff for them .
Cons: Weird music playing. No room for toiletries in bathroom. The walls were not well painted.( sloppy job). The web site boasted early check in but when we arrived we were told no check in until 3. My husband is disabled so this was inconvenience. There was only book Buddha but no Holy Bible. Dirty clothing was in the drawers. There was loud street noise due to delivery trucks at 6:30am.

Pros: *99% of staff gave 120% (Shout outs to Jena, Jacobi, Jimmy) effort towards quality service. Resort fee is reasonable considering free breakfast vouchers each day, snacks upon request, and upstairs (rooftop) events depending on te season and weather, like free wine hour and a band on some nights. Pool-view suites are the best bet.
Cons: The 1 bad apple at the front desk. *Older, short-haired supervisor was rude. never said hello or attempted eye-contact for each of the three days that we passed the front desk. Although the hotel had a significant makeover, which is a job well done, select rooms on each floor have a trunkated window/external city view due to the structure of the building, unlike the other rooms that have nice a nice oversized window facing outside the property (city view). Might consider revamping the parking lot for security. Room-key-only access with an electric arm to prevent anyone from parking there would be a good start with ornamental fencing to match the current design of the building.

Pros: Excellent restaurant + fantastic customer service. We wanted a quiet weekend by a nice pool and the Clarendon was perfect for that - plenty of access to fun if we wanted it but also peaceful and relaxing. Rooftop deck was lovely and the regular Friday night band was phenomenal. It was surreal/heavenly to sit in a hot tub under the stars listening to really interesting piano trio arrangements of Radiohead and Satie.

Cons: The first room they put me in the heater didn't work. They gave me a new room rather quickly and even upgraded me to keep me on the top floor, which was nice. However, I don't like hotels where I can hear EVERYTHING that goes on in the rooms around me and in the hallways. Babies crying, dogs barking (the dog was on the floor below me), cell phones ringing, people talking, people using the bathroom, people opening and closing closet doors in their rooms. It was hard to relax, and forget about a good night's sleep. It was disappointing because everything else about this place was top notch.

Pros: The staff at the Clarendon Hotel went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. I had some issues trying to book a massage through their spa, but the hotel manager responded immediately and took the extra care to ensure everything was corrected for me. Truly a great experience.

Cons: Non-disclosure of the "service fee" upon our exit, as well as bank holding onto funds, whether we booked through a third party or otherwise. Being upfront is the equivalent in this case of paying it forward. Also, what does this service fee cover? We turned away the morning maid service each morning because it was at or before 9:30 am. It was both the weekend, and we were on vacation/ in town for a one-off musical engagement. We asked her to come back in a couple of hours the first 2 mornings, but never saw nor heard from anyone again... no new towels, tidying up, etc. In fact, mid-way through day 3 (our final day there), we were fed up with recycling old damp towels and had to call the front desk for some replacements. Someone did arrive within the hour to switch out towels, tp, etc,, but back to the definition of service fee, are we missing something? We even felt compelled, in the holiday spirit, to leave $20 for housekeeping in the envelope provided. For what, however, we are left wondering. will most assuredly be booking elsewhere next trip.

Pros: The lady at the reception desk when we checked in was fantastic, very sweet and super helpful. She is the only reason we stayed in this disgusting motel and didn't immediately go back to Flagstaff. We would have been a lot more upset and probably would have left demanding our money back had she not been so kind to us. The lady who worked the evening of March 15, 2015 deserves a raise! The lady when we checked out was also nice but was unprofessional and more concerned with what was on her phone. Overall, we did get what we paid for I suppose. The location was super convienent, it was 10 min or less away from everything we wanted to do. Just glad we only stayed for one night. I will also admit that the bbqs by the pool are a genius idea! A familiy staying there was bbq-ing up a storm and it smelt AMAZING. haha The hotel resturaunt was also actually really nice!

Cheetos stuck to the carpet, all of the trash cans full, all the towels were damp, no toilet paper, used soaps, dirty mirrors and counter tops, smelt like dog pee, cigarette burns in the sheet/bed, beds were super questionable, pillows smelt mildewy, and only half of the outlets worked. We ended up using our clothes for pillows and ended up sleeping on top of the comforter just because we didn't want to sleep inside. The most staff seemed overworked and underpaid. The rest seemed lazy. And by internet they do not mean WiFi, they mean a tiny computer from the 80s in the lobby... That may or may not work.
