Pros: The hosts at Heatherfield House were absolutely wonderful. They welcomed us warmly and we quickly settled into the cozy room. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet and made to order eggs each day. The property was located less than 10 minutes from Portree where we could find a handful of dinner options and shops. All the attractions in Skye where a short drive away. We loved coming back to relax by the fire in the lounge each day as well. I cannot speak highly enough about Heatherfield House and would love to stay here again.
Cons: Everything was pretty perfect. We arrived at night and would have had difficulty locating the property if it weren't for the signs that they had posted. No complaints.

Flat attached to the house by an internal door so can be a bit of noise but nothing too much. Fabulous place to stay, great value in a quiet part of the island. Pros: Overall the hosts and the apartment were excellent. Lovely clean place with all facilities and superb views. Quiet and peaceful and well located for great parts of Skye.
Cons: Through no fault of the hosts, a powercut knocked the heating out for my whole stay, however the hosts were quick to buy electric heaters which kept the apartment comfortable enough. This worked well but did leave me with a problem in that my wet clothes couldn't dry out. Not sure what more could have been done but this did make life a little awkward.

Greshornish House Hotel - Portree - Building

Overview Reviews
When you stay at Greshornish House Hotel in Portree, you'll be 11 minutes by car from Edinbane Pottery. Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were lovely and did everything they could to make sure we were comfortable and tried to accommodate all our needs where possible. The house was like a home and it was wonderful to sit near the warm fireplace every evening before dinner.
Cons: The location was a little too remote, you had to trek far down one coastline and then back up another single track road to reach the hotel. Every time we wanted to go somewhere we had to consider doing this loop just to get somewhere. At the same time I do understand and appreciate the remoteness gave it a sense of serenity and peacefulness.
7.0 Good
Pros: The place is beautiful, with a nice view. The guest room by the fire place is very peaceful. And the breakfast was excellent.
Cons: Lots of noise at night and no hot water in the shower in the morning, so a bit disappointed overall.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room, friendly staff
Cons: Food and drink a little overpriced
5.0 Okay
Pros: The facilities.
Cons: We arrived during a funeral service and felt very uncomfortable, and were told we couldn’t use the facilities until 6, when the funeral finished. We wished the hotel translated this to us at the time as this was no acceptable for us during a holiday.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was breathtaking. The staff was courteous and kind. The rooms are large and enormous bathroom Breakfast was the best I had in Scotland. Restaurants and food is simply the best.
Cons: Nothing really maybe the heater is small for the room and the small road leading to the hotel was bad.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The entire experience at Greshornish was perfect. The food is outstanding in the restaurant, the staff incredibly friendly, the room was spacious with a very comfy bed and the lounge areas with snooker tables, open fire place and chess board was excellent to relax in. The added bonus of the Chinese Rainbow Pheasants were brilliant.
Cons: Only thing I can falter is the road surface but this in no way affected our stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Upon arrival, the staff took the best care of us. Our room was spacious and impeccably neat. Dinner and breakfast on site were exceptional. Having arrived in the dark we were not able to explore the grounds until morning but when the sun came up we were struck with the beauty of the estate and the surrounding areas. This place is an absolute must stay.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very Morden and stylish decorations
Cons: None
6.7 Good
Pros: The breakfast was very good and the location fine.
Cons: We would have liked a bit more colour in the room and either bedside tables or a shelf to put clocks, etc. on without having to jump out of bed to have a look at the time. The shower was a bit of a nuisance in that you got a hairwash whether you liked it or not. Now-a-days we are asked to use soap rather than plastic bottles so even a small bar of soap would be helpful.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was lovely and restaurant was sold out for dinner! They gave us a nice recommendation for dinner options within walking distance of the hotel.
Cons: An elevator would have been helpful as stairs were narrow.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed and I loved the bathroom and general ambience of the hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location, friendliness, cleanliness, breakfast!!
7.1 Good
Pros: Room was clean comfortab;e breakfast was good
Cons: Disappointed Three points Accuracy of information 1. Information I booked on was room with "view" - photos of property show views over Skye - other rooms probably do have views and the breakfast room did however the family room we booked did not- the view for me is not of a car park and if you were able to see the photographed view you would need to hang out the window and twist to the right which was not possible as the window had limited opening This room should NOT be advertised as with view. 2. The room overlooked the car park for guests with clear vision in for everyone and this limited privacy as the blind needed to be lowered in order to ensure this during the day and night. 3. Non availability of credit card facilities at this property should be identified as part of the on line booking - rather than notification by the property post the booking - travellers do no always have data access on the road or cash.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast! A lovely room very clean and bed extremely comfortable. The view towards the loch was fab a great location for travelling around Skye and mainland. Friendly hosts.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful, just a tad expensive (but everywhere else was WAY worse price wise).
7.9 Good
Pros: The view is lovely and the bed was very comfortable
Cons: There was a problem with the ceiling fan in our room and being unable to use it made it very hot and uncomfortable on the hottest day of the year so far.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean facilities, wonderful views over breakfast, breakfast was delicious. A great place to stay on the way up to do the North 500, while giving the chance of exploring Skye at the same time (which is just stunning!)
Cons: Everything was as expected, everything you need for a short stay.

Pros: Location was great ...looking over the harbour was lovely.. Beautiful when sat eating breakfast and dinner
Cons: The pot holes coming along the track to the hotel were massive! You had a job to see them as it rained everyday and you thought they were just puddles... ( not good when you have a hired car or your own car ) View from our room was not great mainly the car park

Pros: Reception staff very pleasant. When we called them to say our tv was not working, someone came in 2 minutes to fix it.
Cons: 2 interruptions from housekeeping before checkout time. We requested a 30 minute longer checkout out (11 o’clock). We were even after this with housekeeping. We felt like they wanted us out as quickly as possible! Not very welcoming ☹️

6.0 Good
Pros: View, breakfast was good, most staff were very pleasant. Easy check in and out.
Cons: Room far too hot and unable to make it cooler, in December too. Aged rooms, old decor, could do with being updated and this would solve the cleanliness issues.
