Pros: Three adults, including myself, stayed here a day before and after a cruise. The hotel was a great price and offered three single beds and a very large bathroom. Being from the U.S. with limited public transportation where I live, I did not realize that the tram is different than the train. We thought we could take the tram to and from the airport and port, but you need to take a taxi, so that was a little disappointing. The tram is an excellent way to get downtown, though. You pay right on the tram, 7.50 Euros for 24 hours. The staff was extremely helpful in giving directions regarding navigating the city and helping answer a variety of questions. They even ordered taxi pick up for us.

Pros: Other than the location, this place really was just so-so. Most Marriott Courtyards are cleaner, more comfortable, and have much better service. Pros: I spent two nights at the NH Barbizon and I only have positive things to say. It was a group of 5 friends and we couldnt be happier with our stay. The hotel in itself is beautifully decorated. The location is excellent across from Amsterdam Central and all the trolleys, but the best part of the hotel was the staff. Daniel helped my friends and I not only with our luggage, but with advice on getting around the city, recommendations for restaurants, and sightseeing. Pros: The building is an antique that seems to recently been rejuvenated. It's important to keep this in mind when coming here, because the place is not a modern hotel, and so some modern things may be missing. Pros: The rooms were not large but a good size for a hotel in an older building. The breakfast was nice. Enjoyed the option to have fried eggs or omelettes cooked to order. Check in was quick and all staff were friendly and accommodating.
This hotel is in the museum district but a 30 minute walk from the train station and the harbour.

Pros: The staff was EXCELLENT! They were always available and willing to help in any way. They were also very knowledgeable about the city and sights. I came back to my room multiple times thinking " I can't believe how polite and nice the staff is here" Breakfast was decent. Meat, toast, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, orange juice…. While having a drink at a local pub, a local Amsterdamer commented that he has lived across the street from the Hotel Flipper for many years. He said he likes the neighborhood very much and has always thought highly of the hotel. I thought the location was perfect for us. It is very close to the #4 tram line (about 5-7 min ride to Dam Square). We liked how it was outside the downtown traffic, noise, and crowds but was still very close to everything. The hotel is just off a main street that has ample restaurants, corner market stores, flower shops, coffee shops (quieter then the ones downtown), pubs, and other things. From Central Station, the cab ride (2 people, 4 bags) was over 21 euro. From our hotel to the Schiphol airport (same people and bags) was 25 euro. Use Schiphol express cab service, they charge per Km not minute. Overall, I would recommend Hotel Flipper to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

Pros: The food was good, fresh bread, meats and cheese, 2 choices of cereal, fresh and canned fruit, spreads and teas, everything kept topped up. The staff were friendly, it was relatively quiet. It's close to the Tram 4 to take you to site seeing. It's the cheapest hotel online.
