The new car didn't have ANY USB chargers... only USB-C. That was bloody annoying for a new rental car. That ridiculous system for checking how many points you have on your licence is also both unique and antiquated. I know it's not a Hertz specific problem... but FFS!!! The staff member did help in the end and offer an alternative. The car was great and at a good price.

New car. Lots of features.

Cons:

No one around to explain features of the car. Had to return the car two weeks early due to covid 19. Did not get a partial refund for those two weeks. Was contacted by P.R. person when I gave them a poor review who seemed like he might give me a partial refund but I believe they are now in bankruptcy proceedings so doubt I will see it.

Nothing! Stay away and help put disreputable businesses out of business!

Cons:

Bait and switch. Got a price that looked great, but when I got there not only did they have an inferior car to the one I booked, that they tried to pass off, but the price they charged was over 40% higher than when I booked online. (Looking at the other reviews, I'm not the only one in this position) I walked out after confirming that they wouldn't charge me anything, and they charged me over 90 dollars (in dispute with credit card). I then went to a big name brand like I should have in the first place.

The Pickup was the worst pickup scenario I've ever seen. There's a kiosk to 'skip the line' that you can use, but you need to get in the line after anyway. We had to deposit about $1200. The pickup process took about 2 hours. The car we received wasn't the class we requested, nor clean.

Cons:

Clearer indication of where to go when arriving. More staff. Working Kiosks. A real waiting area. Quicker service. Most importantly advance information on required deposits (I would never have rented from here had I known it was a $1200 USD deposit required).

The young teenager working there was probably the only person that was courteous and understanding there.

Cons:

Booked car for 11am. Didn't get car until 1:45pm. Car was wall banged up and cut on tire. They said it's all good. Protested to get another car as I didn't feel safe. Returned car at 11:45amnext day to be scold by clerk who said needed to be returned by 11 and others waited for 3h for it. Scammers!

Terrible experience. They wanted to give us a much smaller car than we reserved and we did not fit. They wanted to charge us more than double for a bigger car. They were so rude and did not care. We had 2 small children and a disabled person with us. Money wasted. Day ruined.

Although I had checked in online in advance, all customers had to wait in the line to set up the car hire insurance. It took 45 minutes to get through the line, and the booked automatic car never came after 2 hours. The man checking customers in kept making rude comments about them.

I was delivered car as per my selection only. car was well maintained and almost new. only problem was it was not completely clean from inside. car seats and mats were full of pet's hair. except that everything was very well.

We had to wait 20 minutes for collection but we were a little early and they didn’t open until 7am. Overall collection was straight forward, nice new cars with very little damage. Handing the car back was a simple and straight forward process. Will use again in future.

Pick-up is in a hotel. Shuttle bus takes you two floors down. Then you have to take an elevator up (with all luggage). Long wait (45 minutes). Elevator down to collect the car. Everything together roughly 90 minutes.

We arrived in terminal 2 and there are only shuttles from terminal 3. With a toddler and all the bags and car seats that entails it was a long walk .

Budget changed the reservation from a Premium vehicle to a compact car , with an increase in price without notifying me. When I logged onto the Budget website the reservation had been changed. I was told the rate was no longer available!!! I will not use Budget again!!!!!!!

1. heck of a long line to get the car; why does it take such a long time to rent a car when it's pre-ordered and it's just some basic paperwork. 2. I'm still waiting for a bill; haven't even received one by email. Their system was down when I returned the car and yet I've been charged more than was quoted with no explanation at the time of return.

They say free shuttle but you have have to pay for tickets both ways and email them receipt when you get home to get reimbursed( as far as I’m concerned that’s not free). Car exterior was very dirty on pickup and they require you to go out alone and look for additional damage on a dirty car to see if you can find something they missed. Standard legally required insurance was not included in price of car through booking site( or that’s what they said when I got there). Overall it felt like a dirty slimy operation that is designed to rip people off every chance they get. Every body re ting there was angry and seemed to feel the same way. Staff was for most part indifferent to the negativity by the customers and you can tell they just deal with it all day due to the companies for policies. Definitely worth layyng a little extra to go with a sta and brand such as enterprise or Alamo etc....

I had a reservation for a car which the sales staff completely ignored to start a new transaction. They proceeded to ignore pricing to push their insurance plan, and basically wouldn't let you leave until you had purchased it. I literally told them what I thought they were doing was a scam.

Cons:

Took about an hour to check in and there were only two people in line in front of me and I was there during weekday business hours. Despite listing that they offer baby carseats, no one from that department was there so they couldn’t offer us one. Manager ignored us as he was too busy.

I will never use Avis again - ever. In Jan 2019 I booked a car for pick up at LHR Dec 16, making the mistake that my flight out of SFO was actually getting into LHR Dec 17. Had I picked up the car Dec 16, I would have been paying $460 for my rental period. With zero flexibility they wanted me to now pay £2000 for the same rental package (1 day less in fact). After a long haul flight with 4 biggish bags - which the Avis shuttle driver gave no help with - I had to go back to T2 and get a car from National for £600. Same size as my original Avis booking, help with baggage into and off of bus and even into my car! Enterprise rocks. Avis sucks big time.

I made the mistake of not bringing my passport to the rental counter. Although not explicitly stated anywhere in the terms and conditions, a passport for foreign tourists is required to rent a car from Avis Heathrow. A driver's license is not sufficient documentation.

Cons:

Night time flight tried to reduce the hassle of insurance early in the a.m. Made reservation on line with car rentals .com for a Hyundai -I 30 at he same time I purchased the collision damage coverage. This was through Allianz insurance. At check in at Avis they would not accept this insurance, they allowed me to call Allianz in the US their rep was helpful and was sorry the insurance was not accepted, a refund was offered and accepted. Bottom line I wound up paying about $ 100 more for this rental. And the car supplied was smaller than the model I requested.

There was NOTHING that we liked about this experience. We will NEVER use them or recommend them again. Upon arrival, it took over an hour to find them for transportation to their facility. We had our booking at 9:00 am, at 11:00 am, we were still waiting for someone to talk to us. There were customers waiting who had their bookings at 7:30, and they hadn't been served yet. As we had time sensitive tickets for entry to Stonehenge, we ended up calling a taxi company to pick us up to drive us. The car rental company was supposed to reimburse us, they still have not credited us with our pre-paid rate. This was a HORRIBLE experience, we do NOT recommend them to anyone. For context, we have travelled extensively around the world and have rented cars everywhere we have travelled, this was by far the WORST EXPERIENCE we have ever encountered.

I got dropped off at terminal on departure. DO NOT USE PAY EXTRA AND USE A MAINSTREAM RENTAL COMPANY. THE PRICE IS MISLEADING THEY CHARGE YOU FOR INSURANCE WHEB COLLECTING THE CAR RATHER THAN TELLING YOU ABOUT THIS BEFORE YOU MAKE THE BOOKING. RUDE AND UMPROFESSIONAL STAFF. Hidden fees of over £145 on a £40 car rental (350%)!! The car was not cleaned, with multiple stains inside the vehicle, and even had chocolate smeared all over the passenger seat. Had to spend the first 15 minutes cleaning in their parking lot to just make it usable…

I arrived at Routes car rental and they refused to give me my car unless I paid £140 for basic insurance (which I showed them was already included in my purchase from Kayak). I had the feeling that they try this scam every time, all customers were ushered in one by one separately into the office so you could not hear what was being discussed but nobody received a car. The office was just a hotel room with a sign on the wall and did not look like a functioning rental car company. Do not touch Routes it is a scam company!! I left and rebooked with somebody else for £60 and will be asking for a refund from Kayak.

Will never rent this way again. Instructions on receipt and confirming email had conflicting addresses and the wrong phone number. No signage at airport for where to find the agency, and without a working phone number, couldn’t find it. Heathrow’s information desk had never heard of it and told us to just take the car rental shuttles, but the drivers (fortunately) told us that wasn’t going to work. After 45 minutes of searching at the airport, gave up and hired a cab to take us to the two addresses we had. Fortunately, we picked the right one first (450 Bath). The cab ride ate up most of the difference in price between Routes and a name brand, on-airport rental agency. (The customers arriving after us also took a cab to get there.) There wasn’t even signage at the (correct) office park Then we waited a half hour for service as the one employee handling three different rental labels (at two different desks) was with other frustrated customers. Once finally with the agent (who was very nice, but didn’t go out of his way to apologize for the fiasco), it took another 30 minutes to rent the car. That included an improper mileage limit that required our rental confirmation receipt to correct. Unlike most of the major services, there is no insurance at all included, which the driver is required to have in the UK (and your US-based insurer probably doesn’t cover you—our very good insurance does not), so we needed to buy insurance—now our bill was substantially higher than if we had just used a name-brand, on-airport service. Also, we had specifically paid an extra $5 for a Ford rather than a Kia, so what did we get? A Kia. By the time that came up, we were so far behind our schedule that there was just no point in even mentioning it. In summary: inconvenient in the extreme (more than two hours from the time we arrived at the airport to the time we left), difficult to find, and ended up costing more than a name brand. What bliss. In short, we won’t make this mistake again. On the bright side, the car was clean, relatively new, and it drove well.

I booked a car online for 13 pounds a day for 10 days. On arrival I was told I would have to pay an additional 13.25 per day basic insurance. As it was nearly midnight I told them I would take the car for 1 day. When I returned the car I heard them doing the same con on another customer. I rented a better car for less at Europecar just down the road.
