Air Maroc Strike
Pros: Food was great as usual. It was free. It was not a full flight so I had a chance to lie down and get some much needed sleep. I had arrived at Dakar airport at 12am for a 6:40 flight because of the strike. My friends in Dakar suggested that I get their that early. So I had no sleep. I was able to check 2 bags without a fee.
Cons: We were not informed prior to arrival at airport that there was a crew strike. And that there was a possibility that our flight would be affected. The flight was delayed for 2 hours with no announcements. I had a Mauritanian necklace that I bought while in Senegal 30 years ago. And the female searcher gave me a hard time, would not let me pass through inspection and reported me to her superiors. She insisted that there was something inside of my necklace. It was only when I got nasty with her in French, did she finally let me pass through so I could wait at the boarding gate. I spoke to others who were on their way to Lagos and other parts of Africa who had waited at airport for 2 days with no accommodations.
