Pros: Everyone from the valet attendant, bellman, and front desk was beyond helpful and attentive. Even on a stormy rainy SF day, they were warm and ever inviting to me. They got me a room on the 27th floor with an amazing view of union square during the holiday season. I highly recommend. Also, the bathroom had great lightening and everything was very clean. Location simply can't be topped. Parking is a choice of valet between $41 around the corner and $60 front door. Wifi is also now FREE.

Pros: This boutique hotel has so much charm. It was perfectly located for our many day exploration of SF. I also found it to be located in a hip area, being around the corner from the, reservations only, craft cocktail lounge Bourbon & Branch, and the best Thai restaurant (according to expats) in the city, Million Thai.
I shopped many (endlessly beige and corporate) luxury hotels in the area, but was won over by this luxury hotel with personality. The room was very clean and quiet. We found the duvet and bed to be very comfortable. The bathroom was very modern with a wonderfully relaxing shower. The reported remodeling was complete when I visited and I found that the photos were an accurate portrayal of the rooms.
I would not hesitate to book this hotel again, and would enthusiastically endorse it to friends and family.

Pros: This hotel is very charming in an old fashioned manner. Dark wood furniture, parquet floors, tiled bathroom, and shuttered windows. I stayed on the third floor facing the street in a deluxe queen room. I found there to be plenty of room to move around. The queen bed was very comfortable. Everything was cleaned spotlessly every day. Its proximity to Union Square made it an excellent base of operations, and I felt safe walking too and from it. The hotel's restaurant, Millenium, is a truly excellent vegetarian/vegan restaurant with a great bar. The food is phenomenal and the staff knowledgable and friendly. Continental breakfast included. Tequila shot on check-in and wine and cheese from 5-6pm! Reasonable WiFi. I will definitely stay again.

Pros: I had a really great first time experience at this hotel. One of the things that I liked about this hotel is that you don't feel like you're staying in a San Francisco boutique hotel (aka tiny, narrow walkways, tiny lobby's). I've been to SF a number of times and stayed in boutique hotels and after a while they get kind of eh. The JW Marriott was fantastic. It was clean, in a great location, and every one was helpful. The bathroom was very luxe, which is why I chose this hotel versus the Marroitt. I used the gym in the morning and it was clean and had your standard requirements for a gym. I would def recommend this hotel to others!

Pros: Great location for a "staycation." We live in SF, and spent the night downtown. First dinner, then movie (at Embarcadero Cinema), then a stroll to the Ferry Building. All this within about three blocks.
When we arrived, we were given a free upgrade to a slightly larger room (maybe it was a slow Friday night, but they didn't have to have done this).
The room and bed were comfortable, although the TV was a bit on the small size (not tiny, just not huge). The room had plenty of room for the two of us, and the queen bed fit our two larger frames nicely.
The "Living Room" on the lobby level was quite comfortable, with free espresso drinks and computers available. Free wifi throughout the hotel. We didn't try the restaurant, but there is a Starbucks on the corner (two doors down) that opens quite early, so we had a nice breakfast and coffee there.
We enjoyed our stay, and thought the price was great for a downtown SF hotel room.

Pros: Front desk was extremely helpful. I needed to cancel my reservation to relocate closer to the hospital where my family member was undergoing surgery for a brain tumor. However, I had booked the room through Expedia. The manager assured me that the hotel would not charge a cancellation fee, given that Expedia advertises no cancellation fees except as subject to the hotel. He was willing to be put on the phone with Expedia to explain the waiver. While on the phone with Expedia, I was put on hold for 30 minutes, then reprimanded by the Expedia representative that I would be charged a cancellation fee of the first night's stay. She refused to let me speak to the manager, and also refused to speak to the hotel manager who had happily obliged to discuss the matter with her. I was continually placed on hold, only to have her come back to the phone to reprimand me. I am grateful to the hotel manager for his hospitality which was in stark contrast to my telephone encounter with Expedia.

Pros: It's location was ok. Pretty much in the middle of all the sites. It got the job done as a place to lay at night. I felt safe enough with the metal gate and a security guard at night. I rented a car and street parking, while free at night, was kinda hard. but very doable. 3 straight nights i found free meter (9pm-9am) parking within 3 blocks of the hotel. While there was a lot of bums, they seem harmless enough, but there was a lot. Hotel staff wasn't answering the door when we first arrived but eventually got in after several calls and ringing the bell over ad over. I'd defiantly stay at better place in a better area if i ever go back to SF, but for the price it was good.
