Pros: We stayed in an Imperial Club Room which was like a suite and means I would expect the comfort and luxury we got for the price we paid. My reviews are totally based on this and obviously if you stayed in a normal room you will have a different experience. Extra things are included when you pay for an Imperial Club Room. We also requested a quiet room if possible so were high up and had no issues with noise (this was based on previous reviews where people had issues with noise).

Pros: Everyone from the valet attendant, bellman, and front desk was beyond helpful and attentive. Even on a stormy rainy SF day, they were warm and ever inviting to me. They got me a room on the 27th floor with an amazing view of union square during the holiday season. I highly recommend. Also, the bathroom had great lightening and everything was very clean. Location simply can't be topped. Parking is a choice of valet between $41 around the corner and $60 front door. Wifi is also now FREE.

With a name like the Argonaut, it's impossible not to speak of this hotel in grand, almost legendary terms. Inspired by the Greek legend and Gold Rush-era adventurers, it's one of those rare places in San Francisco that truly merits a term like iconic. Located in the historic Haslett Warehouse, the Argonaut's home is a grand building built in 1907 of exposed brick, Douglas Fir beams and so much seaside character; you feel as though you can almost reach out and touch the colorful Barbary Coast past here. Our boutique hotel is also celebrated for an unsurpassed level of 4-Diamond service and amenities that provide an unforgettable destination experience. Couple that with a positively perfect location at San Francisco's most famous address: perched on the edge of the Bay at Fisherman's Wharf, and it’s easy to see why the hotel is so coveted. A recipient of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award for five years running.

Pros: The room has a very hip vibe that is a hit with my kids ages 12-17. They love it! The hotel is just a block away from the cable car when we came back from a night at the downtown area. Pros: Big positives: cleanliness and size of room, very cheery staff, newer hotel. Somewhat kitschy decor that was also endearing . Cool rough hewn wood beams in room. Timeless yet modern, The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square has been offering guests a warm welcome and an enriching, restorative stay since opening on March 21, 1904. With its turn-of-the-20th-century European style, our hotel in downtown San Francisco, CA, blends the elegance of oak-paneled restaurants and the stately grandeur of the lobby with a $45 million reinvention of the Landmark Building guest rooms, ushering in a new chapter for this storied destination. At this standout among San Francisco hotels on Union Square, you can host events in venues and ballrooms where the finest big bands once played. Recharge in elegant rooms, many featuring chandeliers and marble bathrooms, with modern touches like Heavenly® Beds and Enseo Smart TV systems. As the only hotel on Union Square, SF, it is close to the Financial District and Moscone Convention Center, and with cable cars just outside our front doors, we are at the intersection of the glorious past and vibrant present of this incredible city.

Pros: The hotel was clean and convenient to getting around the city, especially the piers and fidi, which is why we chose it. The neighborhood is very touristy, which means the restaurants aren't great, nor is the shopping, but it's close to some tourist attractions if that's the purpose of your visit. The outdoor pool and spa were an added bonus! The hotel also offered laundry machines on each floor which was nice (though detergent should be included in the cost!).

Pros: Great location for a "staycation." We live in SF, and spent the night downtown. First dinner, then movie (at Embarcadero Cinema), then a stroll to the Ferry Building. All this within about three blocks.
When we arrived, we were given a free upgrade to a slightly larger room (maybe it was a slow Friday night, but they didn't have to have done this).
The room and bed were comfortable, although the TV was a bit on the small size (not tiny, just not huge). The room had plenty of room for the two of us, and the queen bed fit our two larger frames nicely.
The "Living Room" on the lobby level was quite comfortable, with free espresso drinks and computers available. Free wifi throughout the hotel. We didn't try the restaurant, but there is a Starbucks on the corner (two doors down) that opens quite early, so we had a nice breakfast and coffee there.
We enjoyed our stay, and thought the price was great for a downtown SF hotel room.

Pros: Front desk was extremely helpful. I needed to cancel my reservation to relocate closer to the hospital where my family member was undergoing surgery for a brain tumor. However, I had booked the room through Expedia. The manager assured me that the hotel would not charge a cancellation fee, given that Expedia advertises no cancellation fees except as subject to the hotel. He was willing to be put on the phone with Expedia to explain the waiver. While on the phone with Expedia, I was put on hold for 30 minutes, then reprimanded by the Expedia representative that I would be charged a cancellation fee of the first night's stay. She refused to let me speak to the manager, and also refused to speak to the hotel manager who had happily obliged to discuss the matter with her. I was continually placed on hold, only to have her come back to the phone to reprimand me. I am grateful to the hotel manager for his hospitality which was in stark contrast to my telephone encounter with Expedia.
