I had to pickup a rental on short notice. I found a vehicle using Kayak and I was referred to Hertz car rental. I found a $70 car rental for 2 days and with tax and fees + insurance it ended up being around $160. Once I returned the vehicle at the airport (Dallas Love field), the Hertz staff was quick and very adamant about charging me for damage to the vehicle that was already documented prior to renting the vehicle… I had to repeatedly show him that the damage was documented by Hertz through the pre-vehicle check by another Hertz employee. After a few minutes he finally gave up. But he did make sure to charge me the fuel fee because the tank wasn’t exactly at the same fuel level when rented. I understand to be charged if I were to leave the fuel tank on empty, but after fueling the vehicle and still having to drive to the airport from the gas station I was bound to use the 7 miles, forcing it to be under what I originally picked it up with. I hope Hertz or Kayak can help this frustrating situation. A 2 day $160 rental turned into $211 rather quickly. Very upsetting experience.Reviewed 8 Nov 2023

EVEN THOUGH I HAD A CONFIRMATION OF MY CAR RENTAL WHICH WAS LOWER THRU KAYAK THAN HERTZ, I ARRIVED TO PICK UP MY CAR AND THEY STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY AT THAT LOCATION. THE PERSON AT THE COUNTER CALLED (NOT SURE WHO) AND STATED THAT HERTZ AT ANOTHER LOCATION WOULD RENT THE CAR TO ME ONLY IF I AGREED TO PAY $300 MORE THAN THE ECONOMIC CAR CONFIRMATION. Pros:Customer service was helpful. However it took asking for a supervisor to assist me. They did compete me for their mistake.Cons:We reserved and prepaid for our car a month in advance. Got a call the day before we were supposed to go pickup the car (5 min before they closed for the day) to tell us that they didn’t have a car for us, but to call back tomorrow morning at 8 am. Long story short, after 3 hours of calling and begging we were able to get a car at a different location. I was told to just cancel the reservation and try again. Called the hertz corporate office and spoke to their customer service and a supervisor and they finally found us a car. In the end it worked out but it was a very stressful day We picked up the car at 5pm ( we were supposed to pick it up at 12) and left for our trip.Reviewed 12 Mar 2021

Cons:Totally disappointed, the car was dirty with scratch marks. Have to drive to a different location to trade cars. Then the 2nd car was dirty too, had to use the wiper to clean off the wind shield before I could drive. It had $$ signs and numbers written on the windows and wind shield, that would not come off. Only had 1/2 of gas and agent didn't even know. Agents were unfriendly at both locations. Bad experience. My daughter rented a car from Advantage for the same period, she got a bigger, nicer, cleaner midsize car with less mileage and was less expensive. Will NOT rent from Hertz again.Reviewed 13 Apr 2017
