I made a reservation for a minivan on March 26, 2026, for pickup on April 23 at noon. At 8:00 AM the day of pickup, I got a call saying they didn’t have the minivan I reserved. Instead, they tried to push me into an SUV for an extra $15–$20 per day. When I pointed out that this was their mistake—not mine—and that I shouldn’t have to pay more for a replacement vehicle, they refused. They told me I could either pay the upgrade fee or wait indefinitely for a minivan with no guarantee of availability. That is completely unacceptable. I contacted corporate, and they confirmed I should NOT be charged extra and opened a case. But when I called the location back, the story changed again—the cheaper SUV “was gone,” and now the only option was an even more expensive upgrade. They still refused to honor the original price. This is exactly what a bait-and-switch looks like: advertise one vehicle, fail to provide it, and then pressure the customer into paying more for something else. They even tried to offer me a standard car at the same price—completely ignoring the fact that I specifically reserved a minivan for a reason. I told them No I would go elsewhere for a vehicle, I’m not playing games. After I booked with another company, they called back claiming that upon cleaning the larger SUV that the noticed a check engine light and would not have it available but they were swapping it for a minivan and it would be available later, but couldn’t say when. I explained, I told them I was going elsewhere. I have my son Graduation stuff to attend and cannot mess with this stuff we have a schedule and surely they can understand how important it is to be on time. That I would never do business with their company again and I would be reporting them to the BBB, making reviews and I honestly plan to contact an attorney. At that point, the damage was already done for us but I hope this review helps others. Save yourself the stress and don’t book here. If they don’t have the vehicle you reserved, they will try to charge you more instead of making it right. Completely unprofessional and not worth the hassle. I highly recommend the Enterprise car Rental they even picked me up and took me to my rental which save me the Uber fees. It was a great experience and I will review them later.Reviewed 28 Apr 2026

The vehicle was reserved months in advance but there was no vehicle available when we arrived. We waited for over 30 min in the garage while a vehicle was being delivered. The car exterior had not been cleaned and the driver side seat back was locked in a reclined position that could not be adjusted. It was a miserable experience.Reviewed 28 Apr 2026

Smooth process. Only issue was the agent’s hard sell for insurance. He quoted a price for a week I thought acceptable and said he’d give me a better car with low mileage, then I found out it was for a day, not a week. He then gave me another car with high mileage.Reviewed 28 Apr 2026

I had a pretty frustrating experience with Budget. The pickup process was extremely slow—it took about 30 minutes to get my car, even though there were only two people ahead of me in line. That felt unnecessary and poorly managed. Drop-off wasn’t any better. The location was confusing and not clearly marked, which made returning the vehicle more stressful than it should have been. To make matters worse, I was charged $22.06 for gas even though I made sure to fill up the tank right before returning the car. That was really disappointing and felt unfair. Overall, not a great experience. I’d think twice before renting from Budget again.Reviewed 28 Apr 2026

They did not honor the reservation nor did they arrange for a replacement at a different location. I had to find my way to another car rental company and rent a car for almost 50% more. They said they just leave these reservation slot open online even when they don’t have cars.Reviewed 28 Apr 2026

The staff was very good. The problem was that I had selected the mystery vehicle option. The first vehicle was a Kia Niro EV. I had a problem the vehicle was nice, but I decided to go to a recharging station immediately to get a full charge to not have to find one when I needed to return the car. I couldn’t get the station to accept payment from cards that had money available. Both were used later. It said to call customer service. I was on hold for 15 minutes and no one ever answered. I brought back the vehicle and the Toyota Tacoma that I was given was excellent.Reviewed 28 Apr 2026

No cars were available. Management at airport location did not inform the long list of customers until I asked what he status was. I ended up having to cancel and use a Taxi. Wasted 1.5 hours in this process. Will not use Budget again and will not book any personal travel through Kayak again. The vendor Kayak used to source this rental never answered my calls and their number and email was used for the rental versus mine. Made it impossible to call them and cancel the reservation or attempt to switch to new car rental. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with renting a car. I will also be making friends and family aware of this so they too do not leverage Budget and Kayak for future reservations.Reviewed 28 Apr 2026
