We arrived during a snow storm and were heading to the mountains for skiing. The staff said that there were chains in the trunk, but when we got to the place where we need to put on chains, the chains were not there. Drop-off in Messina is quite difficult. The staff were not there during open hours and there is not even a place to pull over in front of the Budget office.Reviewed 13 Apr 2026

Price was great and I was able to get a vehicle very quickly and easily. My biggest issue was that I selected a Tesla or similar luxury electric vehicle and was downgraded to a Hyundai Venue, which is a subcompact gas SUV. I also had to reach out to budget to ask for a bit of a refund for this downgrade.Reviewed 12 Apr 2026

Check-in line was very slow. Once I got to an agent to get my car, they tried to sell me every insurance coverage under the sun. I had already purchased the collision liability, but that didn't stop them from trying to sell it to me. Second, the Toyota Rush I got was extremely basic. It only had a lock and unlock on the remote, no button to release the back hatch. The back hatch button on the outside of the car worked sporadically. Like they say, if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.Reviewed 12 Apr 2026

It took around 75 to 90 minutes just to get to the rental counter. When we entered the queue, they only had 2 people working. When we reached the front of the queue, they opened 1 more agent. And by the time we were done with our Ppwk, they added 2 more agents. They were way understaffed for the amount of flights that arrive Maui at that time of day. When we reached our assigned vehicle, it was filthy on the exterior. The vehicle also had many scrapes on all sides. The interior had been vacuumed, but the dash had dirt/sunscreen from previous renters. I looked at the vehicle year of manufacture because the seats were very worn and stained. It was a 5 year old minivan. The minivan was due for a computer update and that notice was on the screen every time the van was started. The backup camera intermittently malfunction and the screen would be a solid blue. I have photos of both those issues as well as a walk around video showing the condition at p/u. The return process was simple but we wanted to inform the employees of the computer issues and they just waved us in and didn't want us to stop to discuss with them.Reviewed 12 Apr 2026

When I went to pick up the vehicle, they told me they didn’t do same day pick ups. When I ordered the car online, there was no issue placing the order and nothing that said they didn’t do same day pickups. I mentioned that nothing was said online about this, and I didn’t receive and email or call or text explaining otherwise. She said “well our inventory guy doesn’t do his job”. So I drove out of my way, and thought I had a car secured, but I didn’t and was met with rude customer service.Reviewed 10 Apr 2026

My Reservation Number - 42854989-US-2. I picked up the car on 3/25 at 8.55AM and was supposed to return it at 4/09 9.00AM, but I returned the car ONE DAY EARLY. I returned it at 4/08 around 8.30 PM, but I am still being charged a LATE fees. I received the car with full gas and I returned the car with full gas. I filled up the car from a gas station near cary. The only driving after filling up the car is around 5 miles or so. But I al also being charged for almost 2 gallons of gas. I believe that both cases above are cruel and budget is just trying to squeeze more money out of customers without any valid reason. IT IS UNFAIR TO CHARGE LATE FEES WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED EARLY. Very disappointed and heartbroken. Note: When the car was returned the previous day, I even walked into the office and asked the lady about a checkout receipt and the lady said that there is nothing for her to give me because I am supposed to do just leave the car with the keys inside and the guy will check it in. (please check your camera during that time).Reviewed 10 Apr 2026
