Overall experience was good. Easy pick up and drop off. Car was returned on time and with full gas, However, I was charged more that the quoted price on my receipt. In process of disputing this extra charge.Reviewed 7 Feb 2026

We waited in line for pickup for over an hour, having reserved and paid for our rental in advance. If we hadn't already paid, we would have never waited in that line and would have gone with a different company (perhaps the one without a line). BUDGET= excruciating line. Once an agent opened, we were done in 5 minutes. It's a hard NO for Budget.Reviewed 7 Feb 2026

Horrible customer service from the agent at pickup. Excellent service from a different agent at drop off. The car interior was dirty in some spots.Reviewed 6 Feb 2026

Terrible. The rental was pre-paid, but Budget wouldn't rent without doing a credit check for the deposit. I have no problem paying a deposit and told them that, but I've had my credit frozen for two years due to fraud from a large data-leak. They refused to rent me the car without the credit check so I was stuck at the airport at midnight having to find anyplace open to rent me a car. Won't use Budget or Kayak again to rent a car.Reviewed 5 Feb 2026

The car I received smelled very strongly of marijuana and the service engine soon light came on after driving about 10 miles. Because it had been driven off the lot, I could not get my money back and was told I couldn’t extend my reservation to make up for the time lost going back to the store to exchange the car.Reviewed 5 Feb 2026

Car was fine, but not as described. Budget was not helpful. Delayed me by almost more than 3 hours and made me late to the funeral I needed to go to. Which was why I was renting a car in the first place.Reviewed 4 Feb 2026

Budget refused to honor my rental of a small SUV, saying it was simply an economy class car and that it was kayaks fault for indicating the type of cars listed were small suvs. They told me they were “upgrading” me to a Toyota Corolla but it absolutely was a down grade and the car was as basic and underwhelming as they come. I asked to see the manager. I showed my small SUV reservation. He too said it was an economy class reservation and refused to answer whether they had my reserved type of suv in the lot. Also refused to give a different suv. He then with a straight face offered me a minivan. They were disparaging. They tried to upsell prepaid tolls and demanded to know who my insurance provider is when I declined additional coverage. It was the worst rental car experience I’ve had.Reviewed 4 Feb 2026

When I arrived in PSP the line to pick up the car was enormous. I waited in line for 30 minutes and it didn’t move. I didn’t have the time to waste on this, decided I couldn’t wait and left. Unacceptable. Took an uber instead.Reviewed 3 Feb 2026
