My flight was delayed by 3 hours and vendor didn’t allow for a delayed pickup or driver transfer. No refund was provided as well.
Going into the rental, I was familiar with Economy having used them previously and thought it okay enough to return, based primarily on the rate and the previous experience. The car I received was perfect. It was what I rented and was clean and ran very well. Here's where the "other shoe" drops. I purchased the collision insurance offered when I rented the vehicle, really just as a back up. I planned on self-insuring the rental on my personal policy like I have done multiple times before. Just to be prepared, I brought a copy of my policy for the agent to see if there was any questions that required documentation. First, she told me that the extra insurance that I purchased at the point of rental was not good enough. Then I showed my policy to her, when she told me that their vehicle wasn't covered on my policy. Being stuck and needing to get where I was going, I relented and paid for their insurance. In the end, the insurance was twice the cost of the full rental. Had I realized that this was going to be the case, I'd have gone with one of the bigger agencies that do have on-site access. Just buyer beware.
I didn't rent the car because even though I paid insurance and I have my own, they tried to force me to pay a third insurance and asked me for a $250 deposit. They are scammers.
I will never rent from them again. Very poor customer service. I will write to the manager as we were charged for things we have never been charged for in over 30 years of renting cars. Poorly run organization for sure
There is fine print somewhere that mentions that there may be mandatory insurance required that costs additional money when you go to pick up the car. Take this as a good reminder to always read the fine print because we were totally surprised by it which sucked! BUT it was worse that the attendant chose not to mention that we had the choice to use our own insurance but it just came with a higher deposit which we totally would have done had we been given the option Smh. They also have a Ridiculous policy regarding tolls, which was also clearly designed to take people’s money and scare them into giving their money up. These surprises alone made us uncomfortable using the car the entire time we had it, feeling like the company was shady and not knowing what to expect from them when we returned it, but then the car also had an unpleasant smell that we were concerned would seep into our skin and clothes. There was also a stain on the seat. We actually ended up returning the car early just so that we didn’t have to deal with it or any other tricks the company may have had up their sleeves. The stress and discomfort from the beginning made it not worth the slightly lower cost to rent and brought down the overall value for the price for us. I rented from Economy years ago, probably in a different city, but this experience in Miami has left a bad taste in my mouth and I more than likely will not rent from them ever again.
Beware: they will change the price on you when you show up. Added in $300 in fees for insurance and Sunpass. Stay away.
