I've rented a electric car but when picked up the battery was empty (less than 10miles of autonomy) I've returned it and another was provided, unfortunately same situation. Lost an hour in a process so I then took the risk to drive it to a charging station... Be aware that most of the charging station displayed by Maps or even Ford systems are inside Condos and not accessible to the public which restrict a lot the possibilities.

Long waiting line to get the car. We were given car location, but when we got to it, we couldn’t open the track. No one was available to help. We rented car in Miami. It has lots of toll roads. I paid for unlimited tolls, but device — transponder was not in the car, and person I found in the garage had very different information, that person at the counter. Person in the garage claimed, that it shouldn’t be there.

Horrible car, the entire thing shook if you drove over 45. Brakes made horrible squeaking noise. Poor air-conditioning, and dirty. Felt like a very old model, and it certainly needed to be worked on.

The absolute worst experience I've ever had with a rental car company. Kayak should consider removing them from their search results. This company does not treat customers with respect. I actually never picked up my rental because no one was at the counter and I called them and a manager was supposed to come help me. I waited for 2hrs and at 1am I said forget it and got a car from Avis. There were half a dozen others in my situation with Payless. Horrendous service and total disrespect to paying customers.

Awful. Tricked into buying insurance I didn't want. I tried talking to them about not wanting it on the day I got it. They told me to either come back that day or at drop off dispute it then. I left the city I got it in by the time I called so I though return would be fine. At return they said there was nothing they can do but bring to their manage who wasn't there. They said to leave message for them to review and leave email and phone number. I did and left number and email. No response. I'm billed 350$ more than I wanted. Nothing and I think I won't get any. Also customer service was awful in store and on the phone. No help on phone can be done for these things and was lied to.

I pre-paid for a convertible car but when I arrived they tried to give me a 2 door coupe and when I spoke with the agent she was surprised that the car was not a convertible. She tried to give me some other sports car but I told her that I really wanted what I paid for. She then said that I would have to come back the next morning for a convertible. (Good thing we had decided not to drive down to Key West that night like our original plan). When we got there the next morning they didn’t have a convertible still, so I told them to just give me a SUV and pointed to an Explorer. She said ok and then said “hang on” and we waited for about 10-15 more minutes and then finally one of the other agents pulled up with a convertible. We loaded our luggage and left.

Pros:

EZ counter had no customer but said couldn't help me and sent me to Advantage counter where I had to wait behind 2 customers. When finally helped agent had difficulty finding my reservations and asked why I didnt go to EZ counter. Process took longer than past experiences renting cars from other rental companies. My personal car was in repair and I was not sure if may need extension on rental days. The agent advised they dont extend amd I would need to return rental and then start over in rental process. This did not make sense to me and would be an inconvenience. In past I have been able to extend my rental with other companies by simply calling amd requesting.

Cons:

As noted in my experience with EZ, I had some inconveniences that the company could have avoided.

Before departure the counter added a whole day to the rental along with an extension surcharge even though our rental was for the period as booked - 4 days and 3 hours. Ace staff said that i couldn't decline all coverages even with my GEICO and AAdvantage credit card coverages. These added charges came with their own increased taxes and airport fees on top. We had reserved a compact car (Corolla or similar) for four people and luggage (2 large, 2 small suitcases) and they were short on cars and tried to have us leave in a Mustang convertible (two door) and tried to say that the trunk was the same size as a Corolla. The next vehicle they tried to put us in was a Nissan Murano which had a door that couldn't be open from the inside due to the child safety latch being broken and stuck-engaged. Finally, a new Kia Forte that just came back from the wash with only 500 miles on it was presented to us and we took it. This entire process took 45 minutes, starting 15 minutes before our rental period and without a proper vehicle key in hand until 30 minutes into our booking period.

I was not treated well! I believe is a scam because how they try to ask all kinds of proof of insurance and stuff like that which doesn’t make sense. Anyway I ended and cancel and went next door to Alamo and I was treated well there. They low ball the rate to get you in and scam you!

While the line at the airport was long, staff did progress through people quickly. What wasn’t acceptable was that we got a car that had not been cleaned before being put back into service. There was a layer of dirt on the outside which I didn’t care about but the inside had food crumbs, trash, and other evidence of someone else using it. Just gross. Then the washer fluid light came on, the check engine light came on, and another error saying “the camera is blocked”. Luckily we only needed the car for less than 24 hours. When I went to return the car, the agents told me I was late, but I wasn’t. They said I only rented the car for 24 hours and I said ok, well I picked it up at 1pm yesterday and it is 10:30am today so I’m actually quite early. And they calmed down. Just felt like they wanted to scold me. Which was funny because I actually had to wait for the hotel staff to go find the budget employees who were not at their work station. Overall not happy with my rental experience, but it got the job done

The pickup process lasted over an hour with only 6 customers in front of me. There was 1 employee managing the desk (who was working hard), but it was too much for 1 person. After receiving the keys, the car was not in the spot (A-11) that they told me it was so I walked around the garage hitting the alarm until I found it. Drop off was incredibly ambiguous- took me 10 mins to find another renter’s employee and confirm the drop off procedure. I will NEVER rent from Advantage again.

The staffing!! There was ONE, not two, but ONE staff working. We waited over half an hour to finally start checking in even though we filled out all the information through the link they sent via text. The staff was rude, too sarcastic sounding, and took out important information in regards to the gas filling upon return just to get us to over pay!!

Staff really wanted to push us into an SUV, which we really did not need. We caved in and let him "upgrade" us to a Hyundai Santa Fe from the originally reserved Toyota Camry, which we are quite sure would have been a much nicer ride. Upon pick up, we noticed accident damage along the passenger side of the vehicle. As we saw another customer drive away in the very nice Toyota Camry we originally reserved, we were not happy.

When I booked, there were gas vehicles available for the same price but was given an electric vehicle with no instructions on how or where to charge it. I upgraded to a gas vehicle and it ended up costing me more when they were available for the same price in the beginning. The car I ended up receiving worked but felt like the clutch was slipping and wouldn't engage properly.

The line for pick up was 3x longer than any other line in the miami airport, thrifty center was shutdown sonhad to stand in line for the dollar rental. Back windows of our car did not roll up all the way when putting the top up so had to manually pull them back into place. Will choose another rental company if visiting miami again.

Worst car rental experience we’ve ever had. We had booked a van months in advanced. Our flight times had been changed by the airline about a month prior to our trip. Fox NEVER reached out to us to explain there is only a 6 hour grace window of time from arrival to when they will hold your car for you. We had no idea. So after a very long travel day we take the shuttle to their off-site facility 20 min away (another thing we didn’t realize because the website said they were located AT the airport), we were told our reservation had been cancelled because we were like 45 min passed the grace window of arrival and they had no other cars. We had two small children with us and they were completely unhelpful and showed no remorse. NEVER EVER book with this company.

Very bad. We paid by card $14 for two days, but when we went to get the car they ask us to pay 7 times this price plus $150 as a deposit. Why not to tell us the truth from the beginning, so we know the exact price. I am asking for paying me back the $14.

Absolutely no idea about customer service, very rude, My flight was delayed and when I arrived they told me my car rental was canceled because i was late a couple hours and didn't call, how am I supposed to call!!! Also I purchased a full coverage insurance on the reservation and they insisted to sell me a $49.99 PER DAY additional insurance...... absolutely NOT RECOMMENDED.

My reservation was cancelled due to coming in late. No notice was given regarding this policy. I had to sit on the curb with my wife and wait for an Uber in a very scetchy part of Miami. The shuttle did not pick me up nor was thier any notice of shuttle hours.

The shuttle service was not great. We had to wait for almost an hour at the airport. And then when we dropped it off with an hour to spare we ended up getting an Uber after waiting in their parking lot for the shuttle to take us to the airport.

I waited 10 minutes and a shuttle driver told me I need to call for the rental company to come pick me up. By the time I called twice and had waited 30 minutes, I called and talked to a person who apologized and told me someone would be on the way. I ended up waiting an hour in total. When I got to the rental place it was a shack on a lot and there were a whole bunch of hidden fees and it ended up being double the price that I was quoted.

Well I booked online for 17 dollars a day and somehow I got there and with hidden fees and all I turned into 59 dollars. I would’ve just taken that price at the rental places onsite instead of doing all the traveling I had to do to go offsite thinking I was saving

I booked with U Save because it was the cheapest option by a long shot. The location is off-airport but only a 5min shuttle ride. The pick up process was brutal. There was one poor soul working the counter and with only 3 people ahead of me in line it took well over an hour. When I got to the counter the woman was happy to see we had rented a minivan since “that’s all we have left”, which left me wondering if everyone else actually got their reservation. They were insistent at seeing the details of my auto insurance policy and put a $2,000 hold on my credit card since I opted not to buy their insurance. The car itself was perfectly fine, though with a fair number of significant dents & scratches that they didn’t record on the sheet they give you, so I had to go back in and have that portion redone. TBF though, they gave me no grief about it at drop off. So all in all, the experience was OK. If the pickup hasn’t been such a hassle I’d probably do it again, but after a long flight to Miami and with two small kids bouncing off the wall I would have gladly paid more in that moment to save the time it took

There was an error in my reservation. I flew into Ft Lauderdale not Miami. My reservation was for pick up in Ft Lauderdale. . I waited at the sign to be picked up by your shuttle from the airport. I called and spoke with a representative. We went back and forth. I asked him to change my reservation to Ft Lauderdale and cancel the Miami pick up. He said he could not. I could not spend $100 to get to Miami I cancelled my reservation. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED AND UPSET.

Your company stinks, I reserved a car and your representative declined to honor it. I presume that he did not want to rent it at the agreed price. Your representative was obnoxious, he said the I could not rent it because my State Farm policy only carried $100,000.00 property damage and you required $300,000. I bought extra insurance and he said he could not credit my card that I had to contact the insurer, the insurer David it was a lie because since U-Save had written it, thru had to issue credit. Your company is a total SHAM

Very very very silly drop off procedure. You can’t drop your keys off without standing in a 30m line. Just use a drop box. Such a weird waste of time to be required to stand in line to give keys back by hand. They don’t even need me to sign anything. Just stand there for 30m then you can go. These guys ware your time at the airport. Good clean cars, just don’t waste your time here. Go on vacation, make your flight, just don’t let them waste your time.

The Staff showed poor customer service. I had ti call three times fr them t send a shuttle to pick us up from the airport. The person helping us had a nasty disposition, and did not even want to answer our questions. They tried to charge us almost 25% more than what the Kayak quote was. They refused to honor the type of vehicle for the price that was the car class that we chose online.

Pick up was a maze, it took an hour from the terminal to find their location to find out that there is a shuttle to take to their main office. Once arrived, there was a line outside where we waited an hour (amongst others).There are hidden fees that are claimed to be in the fine print, but be prepared to pay for extra liability (despite having purchased the third party insurance) and for the sun pass $10.99/day or you have to pay a $25 fine plus the toll. In essence, our $343 rental was upwards of $500. We ended up cancelling and spending less on Ubers for the three days we spent there.

While This was the most inexpensive car rental we could find at the time there was a reason for it. It became evident when it took us over two hours to get our rental from the time we were dropped off by the shuttle to the office. And that was just the first thing that started our poor service with this rental

LEGAL SCAM! BAIT & SWITCH! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME & ENERGY LIKE MANY OF US DID! Kayak promises free cancellation but when you use their platform they backtrack their promise and say that they are a 3rd party app and don’t actually sell you anything so you have to go to whoever they chose to book with. Furthermore the company they chose says that the booking fee is final and non refundable therefore you end up being completely SCAMMED! -Even though it’s evident and they are aware of their scam, hence all the same reviews and they reply to it their reviews they don’t actually care and therefore don’t fix their fraudulent business model. -They require 2,500 Deposit or 1,000 deposit - Don’t accept Debit Cards - Don’t accept American Express CC - Need Full Coverage Insurance with 300,000 liability - Shameless Lying customer service - All kinds of Extra Charges We booked through KAYAK and I read all the stipulations before booking to make sure what I was buying and when I get there they switch up on you and add all the above requirements, and lie that it was mentioned via Kayak when it wasn’t. On top of all that, they already charge your credit card for the booking and when you cancel at the counter they tell you they can’t do anything about it and you have to call Kayak to get your refund. Needless to say it was a total waste of time and energy ever trying to use this company.

But these clowns jump you through hoops then try and shove you into the only car they have available which is far smaller than the one I specifically requested? Terrible. The price was changed from $20 for a car rental to $628 for 48 hours including security deposit. $500 security deposit was denied by my bank. My bank denied the transaction as fraud alert. I rebooked at The airport car Rental counter who rented us a car that honored the contract for about $50. NU car changed the price from $20- $628. And $500 was just for security deposit. Airport car rental only $150-$200 for security deposit.

The whole pickup and dropoff including the contract documents and HUGE deposit fees for the rental were ridiculous. Strongly urge you to use one of the more name brand car rental agencies over these smaller shady agencies. They messed up on their end with contract and pricing and added multiple costs to our rental that should have never been added such as Toll surcharges, a bogus economy car upgrade even though that is what we originally paid for and reserved, as well as the check in process literally took over an hour to complete and finally leave with the car. They added a new costs to our whole rental a whole week later into the rental period and forced us to either pay or forfeit the deposit money. Overall a very unprofessional and “shady” rental car company. Will not ever use them again. And reporting them to the major review forums.

Online your able to pay with an American Express Card. When you get there after a long flight and a a long drive from Mimai Airport to get there....they tell you we do not accept American Express cards. Mr and two other customers went through the same thing...there was a lot of upset people in the same boat...yelling, arguing. I will never use them again! Stop accepting American Express online for carwiz!

It wasnt the car that we had originally rented. It was nice but was not big enough for our party. We were told we would loose our money already paid at 12 at night and that this was the only option. They couldnt speak very good english and a $200 insurance was still placed on my card after I told them not to.

They do not inform on their page that they do not accept Apple Pay to rent the vehicle at the pickup agency and therefore they do not rent the car to you, but they do accept any type of payment for the reservation and then they tell you that to make the reverse of your money you must make a new reservation, paying more money and then they tell you in a very natural way that you lost your money from both reservations and goodbye

There were unclear instructions regarding pickup times from the rental place. We arrived 1.5 hours after our 9am pickup. There was no car left. So we had no car the entire day. And they kept our money. Please provide a refund for the rental.

Terrible. Was quoted a price. Paid that price when we paid online but for some reason the insurance was dropped, saying “you can discuss this with an agent at time of pick up”. Furthermore, the insurance cost. $200 before it was dropped. We drive all the way to Miami, 2 hours, just to find out we can’t rent the car because we refuse to pay almost $1200 for insurance. This would have been no big deal but they don’t want to give a refund either. So they lied about the cost of the insurance, allowed me to purchase the car rental, let me drive out to pick it up, I choose to cancel based on terrible communication and my ability to find a better rental, and no refund. This has been almost a joke

When booking the rental car it was not clear that the rental car location was off the airport property. Also, we were required to pay for a toll activation fee of $20/day and had to purchase insurance for $30/day. These fees were not disclosed until we got to the desk. Also, there is only an hour pickup window, and we were hassled because our flight was delayed. There is a $500 security deposit. The additional fees charges at the time we picked up the car were an additional $350 on top of what we had already paid to reserve the car. Do not recommend booking with this company.

This is borderline not a real company. I am not a regular car renter and just pick from the top of the list on kayak for price. The ad said "in terminal" which was more appealing than taking the train and long shuttle. Not only was it not in the thermal, after getting to where all the normal major brands were located, there was no signs, no indicators of where to go. This caused some panic. I referent the booking receipt that was so vague it had just an address. I asked one of the floor brokers and he said he would call the guy and send someone to get me and to wait at a bus terminal. It was not marked or had any indicators of any kind. At that time I looked up reviews and it made me sick. Never more than a one star. I rebooked another common brand on the spot and wasn't going that route..
