Pros:The original pick up was fine. Customer service was friendly and even though it was busy the staff were professional with everyone but also kept people moving.
Cons:Our lovely GMC Yukon XL rental was broken into near the Golden Gate Bridge. I did everything I thought I needed to do -- search the area to see if the thief or our stuff was still nearby, take pics, call the cops, and call the Thrifty roadside assistance. I did what the police and Thrifty told me to do. What I didn't know was that I apparently also should have been aware of Thrifty's internal procedures for dealing with a case like this. I apparently should've known that the roadside assistance needed to contact the Thrifty rental outlet ahead of time to let them know that I was coming in for an exchange. Doesn't make any sense, right? But we were very pressed for time with a long drive ahead with hungry kids and I didn't raise a stink, even though Thrifty made us take a vehicle several steps down -- at the same rate as the Yukon XL. Hence, this review -- and also a letter to Thrifty corporate and the California Dept. of Consumer Affairs (or Attorney General if it's their jurisdiction). If Thrifty makes it right, I'll edit this review. I'm not a snob about my rentals; I just want to pay the fair rate. To summarize, two lessons: 1 - Be vigilant about your belongings. Put the small items under the suitcases, wait if you have to for a parking spot in an area with lots of pedestrians (ie, witnesses), and look around to see if you're being watched. 2 - If you need to exchange a vehicle due to something that is not your fault, know that you need to train the Thrifty roadside assistance folks and tell them to alert the local Thrifty outlet.

Cons:They overcharged me and I had to call them to get it corrected. They did willingly correct it. I never got a final receipt.

Pros:They upgraded me because they didn't have the economy sized car I had reserved. They honored everything that they said they would do at the price the said they would do it!

Cons:The vehicle given was a disaster. The front bumper was falling off. The car was covered with scratches and dents. We asked for one in better condition and were told they were "reserved". When we went to return the car, the weekly bill was supposed to be $282 and the clerk began to write $582 and when I caught it said it was a mistake, except the same thing happened last year while the year before that our credit card number was stolen and sold to someone in India. I pointed that out and they said that no one there was from India and it probably happened somewhere else. The problem was that, we only used the credit card at Thrift y and paid cash everywhere else.

Cons:I am never happy that I cannot use my American Express card. It only does not work at Thrifty, anywhere: Denver, Ft Lauderdale, Baltimore, etc. They will not manually enter, and require a different card. Computer was very slow in Baltimore. I really like at airport pickup and drop off like FL.
